I would not under estimate what Ted Cruz did. He forced the Democrats to deal with spending.
.
The Republicans lacked a good message and ran up the Democrat advertising slogan machine.
.
The Republicans could start with a message about how Obama is spending away Generation Y's future.

The treasonous demoratic socialist marxist obama regime was perfectly willing to let America burn down in the gov shutdown if it would keep them in power.

well the good news is that those hard working federal employees will get their back pay, and won't have to use their vacation time.

We would also have to thank the relatively saner side of the totally broken & bewildered GOP ("RINO's" in Tealiban-ese) for refusing to kowtow to their jihadist minority.

They've already tried that. Recent events prove to Americans that Republicans cannot be trusted. The fact that they allow the party to be held hostage by the Tea Party tumor cements that fact.

I too do not underestimate what Ted Cruz did. He weakened the GOP and established himself as a ridiculous clown. Even the Texas newspaper that once supported him now want no part of this dangerous sociopath.

A great power play by President Obama! I admire him more than ever.

One side has always berated whatever the controlling side is for "spending away the future"
As long as the spending benefits the current power structure, regardless of label or affiliation, don't expect anything to change.

Explain why people that work to accrue their vacation time should be forced to use it due to a republican shutdown, denying them of their right to work as well as their paycheck.

The ones getting back pay are the people who continued to work DESPITE the fact they received no paycheck. Explain why people who continued to work under a self imposed shutdown do not deserve to receive their pay!

Obama: intellectually naked and desperate for raw power. What could go wrong?

Dead Ted succeeded in hastening the level of Hate America has for the Tea Bag Republicans.

One giant mistake of allowing a Canadian/Cuban Immigrant into Congress from Texas has resulted in deadwood costing the American economy $24 Billion for a 16 day shut down for no apparent reason.

All by himself, Edward Cruz cost the American GDP 1/2% as have the Republicans over the last 4 years with their obstructionist tactics.

The Republicans have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt they're bad for business and essentially cost America opportunities and money.

Cruz has just guaranteed the Republicans will not win the White House in at least 20 years.

Dear, I would imagine being president is enough power for most (yes even this president) and he has been intellectually honest when stating his position on this latest teabag debacle.

The teabags underestimated this president and also underestimated the disgust folks have for the republicants over this shutdown according to the recent polls.

Try again on the desperate part ...

It's the Democrats that want to spend America in the hole. While people like Obama may strut and smirk, the money changers are the ones really smiling.

The GOP tries so hard to make Obama look inept, and all he does is continue to come out smelling like a rose.

The Right has yet to out think this President at anything they've tried in the last 5 years.

This was a most embarrassing defeat for the GOP that lead to their unconditional surrender and retreat.

Everytime they try to out flank President Obama, they end up boxing themselves in to a space that makes them resemble a Jack in the Box.

Pump priming (stimulus) never really has worked. Borrowing money to create jobs that will fade away when the money runs out only leaves more debt and maybe a few nice roads.
.
I realize you are a victim of left wing press that will say ***anything*** to run cover for Barack Obama, sad truth is even left wing economists say the borrowing Obama wants to do can't go on.

Sorry, Democrat Utopia doesn't come cheap.

I wonder how many millions of dollars the
Koch brothers spent on this losing effort.
Another $250 million?

Obama and the Democrats, vis-a-vis the Repubs,
simply took Nancy Reagan's advice and said "no."
