"He is also calling for improvements in school safety, including putting 1,000 police officers in schools..."

This is what he cut in 2010,$800,000,000 in school security funding.

i guess we can borrow 500 million from the chinese to keep our schools safe....
over the past 14 years, there have been about 30 "mass killings" in the US. of course these are terrible. but what about the 8 or 9,000 young black men that are killed mainly by other young black men every year? or the 500 homicides in the president's home town last year? i would say assault weapon deaths are way down on the list...

If people would simply focus on Obama not reading his own governmental reports (q.v. FBI statistics), they might expose his real agenda here. Targeting so-called assault weapons does not relate to the real information.

In 2011... 1,694 murders using Knives, 726 murders using hands and feet, 496 murders using Hammers and 323 using rifles of ALL Types (So-called Assault Rifles were 123.)

Of the Gun Violence issues you will find that 94% occur in cities with populations above 250,000 where the existing Gun Laws are very strict already.

Where the Connecticut horror happened, so-called Assault Weapons were already banned.... In 90% of all Gun Murders in the US the person committing the murders were already banned from having the gun in the first place...
