Problem with broad stroke cuts the GOP wants is it will only hurt the ones who really need it. The real poor will get cut off.

You see I know a guy who owns a business that is paid a lot in cash and money her can hide. He lives in a 400K house speed boat fancy cars and he gets food stamps...YES HE SHOULD LOSE FOOD STAMPS. But I bet the way the system works he wont.
I also know a lady whos husband died in Iraq (in your god bushies private war)She had 4 kids with him...She is on food stamps even though she works 50hrs a weeks she needs those food stamps to get by...She will most likely lose her stamps if GOP bill goes thru..

... as 85% of SNAP recipients are children, the elderly and disabled Americans....

Eligibility Requirements.....

SNAP helps low-income people buy food. A household unit is people who “purchase and prepare food together.” Eligibility is typically determined by three tests:
• gross income test – household income must be less than 130% of the poverty line (in FY2013, 130% of poverty is $1,211/month for one person and $2,498/month for four people).
• net income test – household income minus deductions must be less than 100% of the poverty line.7
• asset test – assets must be less than $2,000, excluding the recipient’s home and retirement accounts.

Those things are probably true. But these ae progressive programs tha thave been expanded in progressive ways over the months, years, and decades. So when you look at a cut most likely in the planned increases it puts things into perspective. the real issue is that the program will be taking in millions of more people from now on into the forseeable future. and with an economy in decline in real terms, corruption must be trimmed and irresponsible behaviors must be tamed.

Right now the economy is getting better. That said people who lose job and are suffering do need help.

Just cutting the budget is stupid. They should cut off the rich people who rape the system first then see where we are at.

My sister works in the state office for welfare and food stamps. She says 30% of people who get food stamps are what normal people would call rich....CUT THEM OFF FIRST. Then if budget needs more cuts cut off the massive amount that goes to rich big corp farms. After that 70% of budget will be cut and those who need food stamps will get it and only rich will be cut off.

Pure evil in your nasty heart; no health care and abortions because the right wants millions more born so that they can keep them sick and hungry.
Any responsible parent in America can at least earn enough money for food.

If a child in America is "starving", then either the parent locked the child in a closet, or the parent is passed out on the sofa drunk or on drugs, or the parent left the child at home alone. Food stamps are not the solution for that type of problem.

Staving children is not what's at stake. Food stamps are just another program to help needy families make ends meet each month. But the fact is that there are not as many needs families today as there were three years ago. It stands to reason that money allocated for the food stamp program will fluctuate depending on how the economy is trending. The program still exists even with the proposed cuts.

If only everyone could have a good paying job like you, so they could buy their own food.
Problem #1. I am guessing, you are one of those people who do not think minimum wage should increase, even though they ARE working their ass's off.
Problem #2. There will always be those jobs that don't pay well but someone has to do. There will always be those in society, who just don't have what it takes to get a good education, wheather it's affordability or mental capacity, and unfortunatly, they will likely have these low paying positions. How can they afford food to feed themselves, little own a family?
Problem #3. A republican congress will never address real issues, and introduce legitimate legislation that can close the ever increasing wealth disparity gap, between the rich and middle class.(the dems don't seem to be doing much either)

If the US keeps going down this path, I don't see a decrease, I see an increase in food stamps, as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

food.. rent.. cable TV.. cell phone.. beer.. an oz of pot..

Regardless of how your priorities, there is no reason for your kids to "starve".

You can buy a pound of ground beef for $2 and a 5 lb sack of potatos for $3. I pay a guy $40 to mow my lawn. For that 1 hour work, he earns enough to at least put food on the table for a week. Really, it's not rocket science to scape together cash in the United States of America in 2013.

If it's against your personal religion to work for money, then you can drop the kids off at a local church, and they'll at least get a bowl of soup while you practice your own religion at home in from of the TV.

If you can't figure out how to earn enough money to pay rent and put food on the table for yourself and four kids, then ask a Mexican for advice. These guys will walk and hitchhike 2,000 miles for a job that Americans arn't willing to walk 1 mile for. They're literally eating your lunch.

Immigrants, both legal and illegal, continue to remind Americans of what is possible, if you only try.

My own sister makes so much money on managing a disability health scam that she periodically has to go on expensive vacations to get rid of the excess cash and make up stories about some Liberal counselor gifting her several thousand dollars to do so. Scam artists can accrue too much liquid assets, else some legitimate welfare worker will cut the monthly allotment. This same scammer sister found out she could get more money by "separating" from her husband, who lives in the same Section 8 building and has all the benefits of a continuing marriage. She even gets food stamps. This in addition to housing discounts and she's still cashing in about $1400 a month tax free. She enjoys her lobster dinners, when on vacation to spend the excess cash. Quality character there and it the same crap Marine Corpse Pat would have continued and expanded.
The community organizer she consulted with really helped her out.
