There was much more abuse in the Food Stamp program back when there were paper coupons of various denominations. For example: a person goes into a store and buys a can of veggies or soup that costs less than $.50. A $1.00 coupon is given to the cashier and change is given back. He/she goes to another store and does the same thing. And so on, until the person has enough money to buy a pack of cigarettes, cheap wine, or drugs. With the EBT cards NO change is recieved.9

And I can remember people selling $50 worth of stamps for as little as $20 cash in order to get a quick "fix".

C'mon now, Larry. It costs a lot more to buy junk food and fast food than it does to buy healthy food and cook or prepare it at home. I've been feeding a family for over two decades. Junk is expensive as well as being full of empty calories.
Not everyone is a happy homemaker like yourself. Having to survive on food stamps doesn't exactly inspire family fun.

In Mexico, that $50 goes a lot farther.

Most of them, like you, have become grossly obese on other people's money. Get your own food, moocher.

Happy homemaker? Working full time, getting two children ready for school before I could get ready for work, remembering as I was running around the house like a maniac to take meat from the freezer so it would be ready to cook when I got home, drive to work, work for eight hours, drive back home, get some cleaning done, the endless laundry washed, folded and put away, running one or both children to dance, sports, bluebirds, racing back home to prepare food, oversee homework assignments, serve the meal, sit down and eat, get up and load the dishwasher, clean up the kitchen, get the kids bathed, switch more laundry over (oh, did I already say that?), chase the kids to bed, fold some laundry, flop down on the sofa next to my husband, lean my head on his shoulder and end up dozing off...so I could get up the next day and do it again.

Weekends were for grocery shopping and catching up on all the chores I didn't have time for during the week. Saturdays were the only night we ate out, because eating out is too damned expensive, and when you own a home, even a modest one, two cars, insurance for those cars and you want to put any extra money away for your children to attend college, you haul your ass out the door every weekday and get to work.

Happy homemaker? Try frazzled and exhausted. If you think it was 'fun', you need your head examined. And it would have been a whole lot easier without working five days a week. Cry me a river.

Funny that should be a post from someone residing in Kentucky, one of the poorest States in America. Of the 6 Congressional Districts in Kentucky 4 Voted for Romney in Nov 2012, and 2 supported Obama with their votes.

the 4 Republican backing districts with like minded Republicans Representatives in Congress overwhelming receive more Food Stamps than the 2 districts which voted democrat. In the Republican districts 25% of the residents living in those districts receiver Food Stamps to help them survive.

Ironically all 4 of those Republican Representatives from those districts voted to cut food stamp funding where by cutting the support their constituents depend on every month to get food on their tables.

I think some of us have the wrong perception about who benefits the most from food stamps in America, the dominate recipients live in Red States like Kentucky, where the incomes are lower than those of the residents living and working in Blue States.

Governments long ago realized they can influence the political beliefs and activism of populations by manipulating the availability and costs of food. Democrats have long established welfare systems teaching people to rely on government instead of their own efforts and foresight. Get enough people totally dependent on government handouts and you can move them like chess pieces. Democrats long ago (1970s) discussed amongst themselves and published many articles and government books about how they would use food as a weapon. Link this to their policies of destroying babies (57+ Million) and you will see Democrats have become very much like the mass murderers like Stalin, who not only murdered millions in camps, but starved millions to death because they wouldn't embrace Communism and Atheism.

Of course, since the baby is outside of the mother, Republicans couldnÂ’t care less.
since when did tax payers accept the burden of taking care of others sexual desire results?making babies without being able to take care of them is on the parent or parents!people like you sgt.want us to pay the baby makers for their mistakes and then continue it by providing welfare, free lunches and free health care etc.with all these free things(free at tax payer expense)I doubt seriously if any are going to starve?whose fault is it when many abuse the system and find ways to use this free stuff to instead buy drugs, tobacco and other unnecessary things?you have zero in common sense!mc donalds has many openings but the government pays more to just sit on your ass and whine for more!!

many eat fast food because they are too lazy to cook!the cost of a couple of big macs would buy enough to make a beef stew over rice and lettuce for a salad and it would go a lot farther?again it would require a little effort to cook it!stews and red beans fed a lot of country people and some weren't poor?

but more of the country folk in those Red States that vote Republican are poor. Red State Republicans are the poorest citizens in America and are the dominate recipients of Food Stamps being they earn low wages, are poor and qualify for the program at a rate double their northern counterparts living in Blue States.

The poverty in Louisiana resembles life experience in those back woods and swamps located in Brazil. Some of the families in Louisiana live harsher than the poor in Haiti.
