I didn't have to review the article to know it was a Republican Senator who would be so insensitive to a grieving parent.

He wasn't man enough to tell the woman," screw your loss, I don't want no stinking back ground check"

Please do the rest of us here the kindest favour: Present factual evidence in the form of historical documentation which would tend to show that any kind of 'background check' has ever stopped a crime of violence from happening?

And by the way, there is no difference between your party of the Democrat, and the party of the Republican, as any really discernible difference evaporated long ago in your country.

Essentially all you have now is window dressing in the name of keeping you fooled, in your place, and subdued.

Go read Carroll Quigley's 'Tragedy & Hope,' as then you'll get a grasp of the situation as it REALLY exists in the U.S.

Bush wins.
You sound like the perfect candidate for Al Qaeda. They hate President Obama and America, too.

If you liberals had not let all the loons out of their cages and put schools as target rich places, it would have never happened. Just like 9/11. if Clinton hadn't turned down bin Laden, it would have never happened. You liberals should learn your lesson.

Hmm. They said "some" but not those that DO violate the constitution. So far they have not really spelled out any that DON'T violate the constitution. They never said "any or all" gun control measures are legal.

Katrina..incompetent democrat governor and lying, theiving (now in jail) inept mayor of New Orleans.
Bush went after al queda, put in the policies used by nobama and verified by Zero Dark Thirty and No Easy Day authors...who were involved.
Yes, Bush wins by a large margin..
Clinton and nobama lead in ignoring threats.
Big ears resists calling anything a terrorist attack. If not for the scrutiny he came under for not using the word "terrorist" in Boston, he would still be avoiding it.

The left seems to forget that 911 was the second attack on the WTC--not the first. The first happened under Bill Clinton. Instead of going after the organization behind that first attack, he instead went after the individuals who carried it out. That's like killing a roach in your kitchen and thinking you solved your roach problem.

Clinton did very little after the Yemen and embassy attacks. Bin Laden (in one of his recorded speeches) stated that he expected the US to cower after 911 based on Clinton's inactions of past attacks.

Using the left's logic, if they are to blame Bush for 911, then certainly we can blame Clinton for the Oklahoma City Bombing. After all, he was President at the time.

Correct, he is going to try. But DumBama is a Communist who always hated our way of government. In his mind, he is the government, and to hell with Congress and Senate. If they don't agree with his idiotic plans, then just go around them. The view and opinion of our hundreds of other representatives don't count. Who needs democracy anyway? Dictators don't believe in democracy.

The Law now requires a Background check.

It is only common sense to extend those requirements to every participant and arms traders at Gun Shows.

Like wise you can't demonstrate where Back Ground checks didn't prevent senseless acts of gun violence by criminals who should have never been allowed to purchase weapons legally.

However, this is trival chatter. Those senators who voted not to close debate are fulfilling an obligation to the Corporate Gun Manufactuers in subverting the will of the Majority. Senators are the best corrupt politicians corporate money can purchase.

It's also common sense, if the market shrink so does those financial contributions from the Gun Manufactuers to those Senators and Representatives living in their pockets.

What's the correlation outside innocent people slaughter at the hands of a mad-man?

Also the Middletown slaughter and Arura, Colorado Massacre? Only difference was one a Kindergarten, the other a Movie Theater. Both perpetrators were college students.

George Bush had intel before 9/11 and did nothing to prevent the senseless loss of life of innocent people.

More alarming is that after the events of 9/11 Bush continued along the path to not seek justice for such a cowardly act.

Even after Bin Laden claimed responsibility foo 9/11 George Bush ignored him and pursued his agenda to invade Iraq.

Oh, you mean kind of like unions. Well, I don't think that's it at all. What I think is that there is a strong movement in this country for people having firearms for protection. In my state of Ohio, our Castle Doctrine and CCW laws were passed by a Democrat Governor. That's with the exception of the latest law that now allows us to carry a firearm in places where alcohol is served. That was signed by Governor Kasich.

According to the statistics I have, Nearly 70% of firearms that are used in crimes came from family, friends or purchased off of the street. Only about 1% or so from gun shows. So having background checks at gun shows won't stop anything. As for the school shooter, Lanza did try to purchase a weapon, but was refused because of his background check. So he killed his mother and stole guns instead.

I'm 52 years old, and recreational narcotics have been illegal my entire life. Yet our prisons are full of users and sellers. Laws only stop non-criminal citizens from getting something. Criminals don't care about the law. That's why they're criminals.

The bill they voted on was stripped down to the essentials: universal background checks.

The ninety percent of Americans who support background checks will have to punish those senators who did not support this bill.

And as they are across many states: work to make sure their states require background checks.

Poor Dumbo: everything is always Obama's fault.

How are those 14 swing states working out for you, Dumbo?

If the NRA hadn't put the AR-15 in his hands, he'd still be in a basement, playing video games.
