The N.R.A. Wins Again

After Sandy Hook, after twenty children were shot and killed at a place where they should have been safe from all harm, there was some optimism among supporters of gun control: perhaps now, finally, both Democrats and Republicans could see the light - and the suffering - and revive the assault-weapons ban.

You need to choose between the hard-working citizens and your greedy, bigoted, un-American ideology.

In your logic, cars, knives, hammers, baseball bats, rocks and even the jawbone of an Ass kill people.
Do we then ban or restrict these items as well?
If we determine that these objects have killing as their primary purpose, yes.

Your use of the term "communist" tells me you're from an earlier time. Would the Ice Age be about right?

You can think whatever you want. The laws speak for themselves.

Firearms have several purposes, the protection of life being one of many.

People misuse all manner of objects. Would it be better to concentrate on those who misuse an object than the object?

Look at it this way, as long as Liberals are working on useless gun control laws, and bans they can't be doing anything else stupid. They won't get anywhere, and it keeps them off the street, and out of the bars. They have been after the guns since FDR, for God's sake. If they had the support they need for gun control they would have called for the vote weeks ago.

Firearms, when in use, protect life only by shooting at another life.

As to your second point, I agree. So do the 92% of Americans who favor universal background checks. Still, if guns were less available, fewer people would get a chance to misuse them.

<quoted text>Assault weapons also have no detectable rationale for being in civilian hands.
In the Sandy Hook tragedy, each child killed was shot 11 times. The shooter may have been psychotic, but his weapons helped him be a more efficient psychotic.
Detectable rationale?? You mean the looter preventing AR-15?

Let's see, we had the King Riots of '67'

The LA Riots of '92

There was widespread looting after Hurricane Andrew.

Hurricane Katrina
NEW ORLEANS With much of the city flooded by Hurricane Katrina, looters floated garbage cans filled with clothing and jewelry down the street in a dash to grab what they could.
In some cases, looting on Tuesday took place in full view of police and National Guard troops.

Hurricane Sandy
Scores of Twitter users have flooded the social networking site announcing their plans to go on looting sprees once Hurricane Sandy makes landfall, as the New York National Guard announced it would put troops on duty in Long Island to prevent such activity.

Glad I could help and each child wasn't shot eleven times. They were all shot multiple times and one child was shot eleven times.

Unless of course the perp sees the firearm aimed at his chest and suddenly decides he has to go home to walk the dog that he doesn't own.

If I listed by irrelevancy the DNC would be number one, left wingers number two, and anti gun nuts number three. Many of the looters belong to #1 and #2 .
