Arkansas native Correnti, who said he has maintained his residence in Blytheville, is "delighted to be back in Arkansas" and lauded Arkansas "farm boys and girls" as having shown the kind of work aptitude necessary to work in a steel mill. Give them the right tools and right training and they'll succeed, he said.

"It's for the stout," he said of steel mill work. "But that's Arkansas for you."

Correnti said about 20 to 25 employees will be brought in from out of state, but the remiander will come from within a 100-150 mile radius of Osceola

* BACKERS: I now have multiple sources saying that Koch Industries yes, those Kochs is the likely source of another major chunk of the private capital required for the $250 million equity pot that must be in place before the state money would flow. Yesterday, I reported that Arkansas Teacher Retirement hopes to buy 20 percent of the equity with $60 million and is expecting a rich return. The Kochs are expected to put in double that amount, according to what I'm hearing. Another private equity firm headed by a former major corporate executive is in for a share somewhat smaller than ATRS and the management team also is expected to make a contribution.

I had rather be in bed with a devil named Koch than one named Obama.

If you have facts about theft or misappropriation, then tell it. Otherwise, you're just a bunch of hot air like everyone else on here. We live in a capitalistic society as of today and there's nothing wrong with Mississippi County getting another mill. So again, if you know something that we need to know then tell us but don't make vague accusations.

The Arkansas Senate doesn't seem to be in a hurry to spend the money. Twenty days isn't very long for someone that's use to wasteing years.

A Toyota or Ford plant would have been nice! I guess as bad as MS county needs jobs, we cant be choosy. Only thing I am concerned about is that when Correnti was with Nucor - THAT WAS NUCOR - Nucor money and Nucor resources!

Sure, Nucor got some incentives, but Nucor had the money to do whatever Nucor wanted to do. Just what is Big River Steel? What are the investors of Big River Steel putting into this mill? So far, it looks like the only investors are the State of Arkansas, Mississippi County, and possibly the Arkansas Teacher Retirement Fund.

I hope Big River Steel does well and ends up with 2,000 permanent jobs. BUT - I think everyone needs to realize Big River Steel and NUCOR can not be compared on start up money.

This new mill is sort of like some investors deciding to build a new brand of cars and everyone getting excited like a new Ford plant is about to be built!!
thanks
