Would an assault weapons ban work?

Dec 17, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Washington Post

When Adam Lanza shot 26 people in Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, he used a Bushmaster AR-15 , a popular style of semiautomatic rifle that can rapidly fire multiple high-velocity rounds, according to law enforcement officials.

no we have insurance it's teabaggers like you that go to the emergency room for health care because your too cheap to pay for insurance so everyone else has to! I guess it's you making it go up huh?
You are wrong once again, comrade, but nothing novel there: I work in the Emergency Dept.and have for three decades in Colo, Mich,Florida and a few other states as well. In fact while in training over 30 yrs ago I did a rotation in Pediatrics in your very town so I can assure you IF you go to any ER in NM you will see Mexicans/Obots(legal and illegal) in Albuquerque dominating the patient load and in other cities various and assorted Obots dominating the waiting room and cubicles. Its not due to being too cheap, it is that Medicaid and self pay working and under class can't get into a primary care office so the default is the ED...just the way it is ,comrade, just the way it is.

Before Obama, you were not forced to buy insurance. Maybe you should call him and his transparency. Did you kow the colleges are cutting the hours of professors to 29 per week so they don't qualify for penalties and full employment status. Elections have consequences. Enjoy. Listen to the Obama pimps whine.

Hawaiians, fat or not, won't work in large numbers, ergo they get no pay nor 'benefits' from the private sector "makers". If they took better care with such things as basic diet, exercise, avoid addictions to alcohol and drugs then the productive members like me would not have such contempt for their life long feeding at our trough while contributing only chaos in return. If those people you people love(pun intended) to coddle worked or at least took basic care of their bodies the insurance companies would charge everyone less-the simple economics of HC. BTW-No one makes anyone sign up for a Cadillac insurance plan (in a free society at least). These "fat Hawaiians" could even do what I and my partners in our ER group have done-get a major medical plan with BIG fat deductible foregoing the sexy Cadillac plans and take care of ourselves bank the savings in premium for the inevitable big fat decline- as novel as that may be to you people.

Socialist or Fascist?

It bothers me a little when conservatives call Barack Obama a "socialist." He certainly is an enemy of the free market, and wants politicians and bureaucrats to make the fundamental decisions about the economy. But that does not mean that he wants government ownership of the means of production, which has long been a standard definition of socialism.

What President Obama has been pushing for, and moving toward, is more insidious: government control of the economy, while leaving ownership in private hands. That way, politicians get to call the shots but, when their bright ideas lead to disaster, they can always blame those who own businesses in the private sector.

Politically, it is heads-I-win when things go right, and tails-you-lose when things go wrong. This is far preferable, from Obama's point of view, since it gives him a variety of scapegoats for all his failed policies, without having to use President Bush as a scapegoat all the time.

Government ownership of the means of production means that politicians also own the consequences of their policies, and have to face responsibility when those consequences are disastrous -- something that Barack Obama avoids like the plague.

Thus the Obama administration can arbitrarily force insurance companies to cover the children of their customers until the children are 26 years old. Obviously, this creates favorable publicity for President Obama. But if this and other government edicts cause insurance premiums to rise, then that is something that can be blamed on the "greed" of the insurance companies.

The same principle, or lack of principle, applies to many other privately owned businesses. It is a very successful political ploy that can be adapted to all sorts of situations.

One of the reasons why both pro-Obama and anti-Obama observers may be reluctant to see him as fascist is that both tend to accept the prevailing notion that fascism is on the political right, while it is obvious that Obama is on the political left.

Back in the 1920s, however, when fascism was a new political development, it was widely -- and correctly -- regarded as being on the political left. Jonah Goldberg's great book "Liberal Fascism" cites overwhelming evidence of the fascists' consistent pursuit of the goals of the left, and of the left's embrace of the fascists as one of their own during the 1920s.

Mussolini, the originator of fascism, was lionized by the left, both in Europe and in America, during the 1920s. Even Hitler, who adopted fascist ideas in the 1920s, was seen by some, including W.E.B. Du Bois, as a man of the left....."

Just, one thing, the insurance company wrote the bill, its a private/public relationship like so many other bills are.
