I live in a state that already pays ABOVE the federal minimum wage.
It should be a state issue.
Through American history States have shown they're incapable of honoring the Constitutional tenents of equal protection.

The South and Appalachia have been economic ruins since before the Civil War and remains so today. Those were the Kennedy inspiration for the war on poverty and Reagan's free phone program. If liberals didnt feed them the wouldnt eat packaged food

Besides the people making minimum wage, there is everyone in the US who want to see the US economy improve.
If paying people more money for the same minimum wage position is going to improve the economy, why didn't Obama do that SIX YEARS ago??

Oh, maybe he was too busy promising the shovel ready jobs, that never materialized.

Wow, that makes YOU smarter than Obama <LOL>

Part of the problem with the minimum wage IS the taxpayer assistance.
Without the availability of that assistance companies would be forced to pay their people more money. Can't have workers passing out on the job because they are hungry or are sick because they can't feed themselves or their families. Or not getting any sleep because they can't pay their heating bill.(or any other malady that assistance covers up)
But when the government steps in and helps them out, the corporations have NO INCENTIVE to pay more money.
Take away the assistance and corporations WILL HAVE to pay their people more, if they want their workers to be ABLE to be productive.
Wage increases frees people from assistance. Funny, the desperate base Republicans who dominate assistance programs are opposed to wage increases

If the boat is leaking, you start with fixing the leak.

Then you bail out the boat.

The southern States do just fine taking care of their own, As far as a 20Million sign up for ObamaScam goes there will never be 20 million people signing up for a chance to pay more for insurance, and higher deductible.

Southern states take more money per capita then all other states. Also more people % wise in southern states are on welfare. Just some neat facts liar.

Oh and on obamacare I know 10 people who have health insurance for first time in there life thanks to obamacare..Also know another 7 people who now have better insurance then before and cheaper. Is oabamcare perfect? Heck no until we have UNIVERSAL care it wont be perfect.

You don't spend much time in our cities do you? The people on the west and south west side of Chicago spend as much on their poor, and unfortunate as any of the Southern states, and it is done in every major city where there are ghettos. You might amuse each other with that crap, but reality is all together different. The South would have to keep their people in mansions to keep up.
