During the election campaign, Barack Obama sought to appeal to the best instincts of the electorate, to a post-partisan sentiment that he said would reinvigorate our democracy. He ran on a platform of reconciliation—of getting beyond "old labels" of right and left, red and blue states, and forging compromises based on shared values.

President Obama's Inaugural was a hopeful day, with an estimated 1.8 million people on the National Mall celebrating the election of America's first African-American president. The level of enthusiasm, the anticipation and the promise of something better could not have been more palpable.

And yet, it has not been realized. Not at all.

Rather than being a unifier, Mr. Obama has divided America on the basis of race, class and partisanship. Moreover, his cynical approach to governance has encouraged his allies to pursue a similar strategy of racially divisive politics on his behalf.

Obama authorizes secret U.S. support for Syrian rebels

(Reuters)- President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government, U.S. sources familiar with the matter said.

Obama's order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence "finding," broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.

This and other developments signal a shift toward growing, albeit still circumscribed, support for Assad's armed opponents - a shift that intensified following last month's failure of the U.N. Security Council to agree on tougher sanctions against the Damascus government.

Last year, when rebels began organizing themselves to challenge the rule of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Obama also signed an initial "finding" broadly authorizing secret U.S. backing for them. But the president moved cautiously in authorizing specific measures to support them. Recent news reports from the region have suggested that the influence and numbers of Islamist militants, some of them connected to al Qaeda or its affiliates, have been growing among Assad's opponents as well.

The top management of Hobby Lobby is very much akin to Chick fil A's.
This coming (ahem...) "holiday" season our family has full intentions to purchase $500.00 worth of Hobby Lobby gift cirtificates as well as $500.00 worth of gift cirtificates from Chick fil A.
Along with other various gifts, everyone we know will get $10-20 worth of gift cirtificates from either Hobby Lobby or Chick fil A.
In addition, this Novemeber, our family is going to use Chick fil A as THE food source to our local municipal food bank for our annual Thanksgiving charitable donation.

I not much on fast food. But Monday I stopped at a Chick fil A in Dayton OH to pick up an order and see what was going on in terms of atmosphere. This was about 2:30 PM. The place was fairly busy both inside and in the drive thru. The cashier at first denied to comment, but after a bit of general encouragement on my part she finally gave an indication that she believed the recent publicity......"ain't doin' anythin' to hurt business".
