Rand Paul is tackling the most important issue of the day for all conservatives and libertarians: completely banning abortion.

Portman to GOP: Don't talk to your kids
borowitz-rob-portman-580.jpg
By Andy Borowitz

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The decision of Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) to support same-sex marriage after learning that his son was gay has inspired hundreds of other Republican lawmakers to stop speaking to their children immediately, G.O.P. leaders confirmed today.

“I have gathered my caucus and told them, if your kids are going to tell you something that’s going to cost you the next election, it’s better to nip that situation in the bud,” said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).“Just stop talking to them altogether, for heaven’s sakes.”

Speaker Boehner said he was advising his fellow Republicans who were “hell bent on speaking to their children” to keep things superficial:“You can talk about sports. You can talk about the weather. But anything beyond that, your policy should be,‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’”

But even as Mr. Boehner laid down the new guidelines for not speaking to one’s children, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) said that the policy “doesn’t go far enough.”

“What if you’re having a conversation with your kids and it turns out they’re in favor of raising the capital-gains tax or banning assault rifles?” he said.“Do what I do—block their calls.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) agreed with his fellow G.O.P. leaders’ words of caution, adding,“Fortunately, none of my children want to talk to me.”

I thought paul was a libertarian but he just introduced a very weird bill that would ban abortions. What a total hypocrite. He is certainly no libertarian.

shouldn't you actually be doing work to stop abortions? we have known techniques that do work,( but ironically are opposed by those tht say they want to stop abortions...)you should support those instead of just making it illegal to calm your own conscience, knowing it will not stop abortions.

Funny is it not that the Republican party is becoming more the anti Intervention party while the Democrats are becoming the more interventionist party.
Might add I am for the anti interventionist movement as the USA has far to many troops abroad and we have far too many commitments .
Can anyone tell me why we are still spending money on NATO as all of Europe but Russia Sweden and Switzerland are members and Russia had a hard time just handling the Chechens and I doubt if the Swedes are going Viking anytime soon either. We should drop out and spend the Money here

I'm for free speech because than you know where people stand. The GOP is advocating not talking to your own children!! It's like a de facto abortion!

No kidding, turns out that Democrats are tougher on terrorism and crime than the Republicans. Just ask Bin Laden. Oh yeah, you can't. He's DEAD.

You can't be a libertarian and be for the complete banning of abortion.
You can't be a libertarian and be for the banning of gay marriage
You can't be a libertarian and be for the Neo-Con foreign policy

The first issue would represent the placing of the Gov't in between a woman and her doctor, dictating which options she should have. A large increase in Gov't power.
The second issue denies a specific group of people equal standing before their Gov't. It is a basic libertarian principle. That all men are created equal. And thus until convicted of a crime or found to be mentally incompetent all men should be equal in the eyes of their Gov't.
The Neo-Cons will never go along with a more reserved role in the world.

These are the fault line on which your party will split because on these issues one side will prevail and one side will have to swallow it's ideals for the sake of the party.

What you need to explore is your hollow head, to locate your one remaining brain cell.
Your ilk are so sick.
