Illinois wasted time on a bill for a handful of gay people but ignored thousands of pensioners and the problems they faced. What a pathetic bunch of politicians and what a pathetic take on priorities.

You seem confused. This is wonderful for ALL gay pensioners! Do you have something against the elderly?

You are a fool, this is about pensioners, not just gays. You would like it to be all about you. Like a typical liberal.
We'll go to work on that, too.

When Harvey Milk became the first elected openly gay Supervisor in San Francisco, he did so on Senior issues as well as just gay lib.

We've kept that alive.

Lots of us are Seniors. We care. We are active, and NOT just on gay issues or in gay organizations.

Nor are we active ONLY on social issues.

The gay community is also a strong supporter of Unions.

This should bring up the population under marriage equality, I wonder when it will be up to 50% with California an New York and now Illinois it's got to be getting closer.

Oh cry me a river. "Like a typical liberal"? "You would like it to be all about you."

Look in the mirror pumpkin! You're on a gay & lesbian forum whining about yourself! The rest of us are talking about our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Talk about buying into the 'entitlement' mindset that was spoon fed to you by the people you voted for!

You call making sure families and their children are treated equally is a waste of time?

What a blow to personal hygiene in Illinois.

Homosexuals, as the great J.D. Salinger wrote in Catcher in the Rye, are personal hygiene phonies.

As a Princeton prof argues, advances in prenatal testing will lead to abortions of all or almost all homosexuals.

What a wonderful book (Yale Univ Press). The book is a refutation of a homosexual prof (it would be redundant to add the qualifier "crazy") at Columbia who argued in 1950 or 1960 that Jesus was a homosexual.

There is no initiative process in Illinois. Once Governor Quinn signs, it is the law (albeit delayed until next summer). The legislature would have to repeal their own bill and the governor sign the repeal before June.

There has been movement on pension reform, but recent developments need to be analyzed and scored. The civilian service departments responsible needed more time than was available during this veto session to issue a proper report for the legislators' consideration.

The reports will be issued and legislators will consider them in due course. Expect the governor to call a special session to consider pension reform.
