Opposition mounts to Summers as possible Fed chief

Jul 26, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Reuters

President Barack Obama could be months away from announcing his pick to replace Ben Bernanke at the Federal Reserve, yet critics are already making an unusual public effort to stop one contender in the race - former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers.

The worst possible choice.

But liberals blame him for spearheading financial deregulation that they charge helped create the financial crisis, and say his work at hedge fund D.E. Shaw makes him the epitome of a revolving door between Wall Street and government.

When he served as Treasury chief under Clinton, Summers helped clinch the law that revoked the Depression-era Glass-Steagall Act, which separated investment banking activities from those of commercial, deposit-taking institutions.

That opened the gate for commercial banks to get involved in riskier financial products, such as the credit default swaps that were at the heart of the 2007-2009 financial crisis.

Summers is the worst choice. But considering the Federal Reserve is a ponzi scheme in itself. Then who better to run a ponzi scheme than Larry Summers.

Think it is bad now, just wait till Larry Summers takes the seat.

Hey Wall Street, can't forget about the repeal of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act that he did as well.

College Republicans Denied Admittance to Obama Speech...

'For president's protection'... Once again odoodle's paranoia is alive and well. Even with a 200 person security team, he is frightened of Republicans. What he was really scared of was someone laughing at his recanned speech that he has used over and over with no sincerity or actual action.

You have to wonder if he's just having someone float the name to gauge the reaction..I'd hope Obama would never appoint this economy-wrecker as head of the Fed.

Wow. BAD choice. Let's hope it goes away.

He takes no action, he only talks. He either don't know what to do or he wants us to continue this down hill roll as part of his destroy America play.

OK, no answer so we'll just drop it. Your hatred for Obama overcomes any rational responses, apparently.
