Pelosi: 'As A Country, We Cannot Prohibit A Path To Citizenship' For Illegal Aliens

May 15, 2014 Full story: CBS Local 498

Making a weaving string of comments on immigration reform at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation economic summit in Washington, the California Democrat said that "as a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship" for illegal immigrants.

She's just afraid an illegal will mug her.... the botox is seeping into the brain....The women needs to hide away from the real world. She is so out of touch with reality, it's appalling. How do these Rhino's keep getting elected... Oh yea, they cheat. They're probably flying illegals in and giving them citizenship paper's... Honestly, I'm surprised some red neck hasn't removed her....

Pelosi is extremely wrong. Not only can a populace deny citizenship to foreign elements breaking its laws, but they can deny citizenship to traitors like Pelosi. Abraham Lincoln did it and we can do it, too.

She has it completely backwards. As a country, we cannot afford to ignore illegal aliens coming into this country. Each and every one of them must be deported, and proper efforts made to keep the border secure.

The expense of this could easily be covered by just enforcing existing law: an employer gets fined $10,000 for EACH illegal alien, for each day they are employed.

of course you can ms pelousy, just have immigration laws passed by congress actually followed and enforced. But that would be counter to the most lawless administration in 100 years

Yes we can prohibit a path and yes we should. I don't care if they are doing jobs that nobody else wants. They still need to get out of our country and STAY OUT. They can get jobs mowing grass and blowing leaves in Monterrey.

Just a reminder that 63% of Americans favor a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. There is Topix, and then there is the real world.

President Obama deports a lot more each month than Bush ever did...
According to current figures from Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- the federal agency responsible for deportations -- Obama has removed 1.4 million people during his 42 months in office so far. Technically, that's fewer than under George W. Bush, whose cumulative total was 2 million. But Bush’s number covers eight full years, which doesn’t allow an apples-to-apples comparison.

If you instead compare the two presidents’ monthly averages, it works out to 32,886 for Obama and 20,964 for Bush, putting Obama clearly in the lead. Bill Clinton is far behind with 869,676 total and 9,059 per month. All previous occupants of the White House going back to 1892 fell well short of the level of the three most recent presidents.

So if you cannot prevent the illegal alien from a pathway to citizenship, who are the immigration laws for? Every country in the world has laws regarding who, and how people from other countries are allowed to enter their country, but we don't need them? Is Pelosi from one of those states that has legalized drugs? She certainly seems to have a problem with reality.

There is already a path to citizenship for people who can follow the law. It's a way to weed out undesirables. Who wants to flood their country with people who don't have a desire to follow any laws?

The government no longer wants US citizens, they just want subjects of the government.

Use some logic, why would they? How do they benefit? Are Americans in favor of no borders too? Illegal aliens driving w/o licenses and drunk?

"The Obama administration has started counting certain “returns” as “removals” in order to artificially inflate the numbers and create a “record level” of deportations. Specifically, those caught by the Border Patrol who are shuttled to a different town along the border before they are returned are being dishonestly counted as deportations. This has falsely increased the number of total removals by more than 100,000 for the past two years.
In fact, if we count removals and returns together historically, then the Obama administration numbers are not close to “record-setting.” In the 1990s, the totals of returns and removals were well over one million. For example, according to the yearbook of immigration statistics, in 1996, removals and returns numbered more than 1.6 million, up from more than 1.3 million in 1995."
