Looks like the same old stuff to me. Until they reduce or eliminate the codes you'll still have companies like GE filing a 57,000 page tax return and pay little or no US tax.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/ge-filed-...

The income tax should be eliminated but instead of rewriting it just reduce it. Especially for the corporations who have failed or will not turn US tax breaks into US jobs.

GOP TEA Bagger's revised tax code: "Section 1. Do not question a political organization's request for tax exemption. Just give it to them. Especially if they say they are with the TEA Party."

The last we need to do is reduce taxes. Quite the opposite, with obamacare and the new 11 million citizens from Mexico, we need more revenue, much more. Obama just raised the payroll tax, he needs to raise it again. If we want to keep up the social programs, instituting federal property and sales taxes will help. It is the progressive way.

If Orin Hatch is involved you can bet it is a give-away to the very rich, while destroying what is left of the middle class.

Baucus? Sounds like an all-Republican plan to me. That can't be good, and it's not surprising that big tax breaks are in the offing.

Granted, if you could get a lot of the rich and big corporations to pay taxes AT ALL, it would probably mean more tax revenue coming in. But tax cuts for the wealthy are a non-starter for the rest of us.

"Raised the payroll tax?" Are you referring to when the temporary SS payroll tax cut ended?

Very disingenuous, but typical.

The big boys AND girls will still find ways to protect their funds.

The sins are still going on. It's just that democrats are profiting from Obama's policies not republicans.

The USA has PLENTY of revenue. We easily can cough up $100,000,000 for an 8 day presidential trip to Africa (supposed to be a purposeful government trip but the Obamas have dragged along their daughters, grandma Robinson and teenage cousin).

You can't bring your relatives along for sightseeing and then say, oh yeah this is for developing trade and improving 'relations'.

Americans are still hurting, the recovery is still fragile, relations between the 2 parties is still tentative and the Obamas flaunt their excess in our faces.

It's audacious to spend ONE HUNDRED MILLION on an 8 DAY TRIP, while bitching about money, taxation.

The American people can't even visit the White House (the Prez just doesn't want to have those little people milling about) but think nothing of spending ONE HUNDRED MILLIN DOLLARS for a LOUSY 8 DAY SUMMER excursion on our dollar while draggin along excess baggage in the form of their relatives.

Is Granny paying her way? How about the teenage cousin of Malia and Sacha did her parents shell out the cost for her food, transportation and hotel rooms.

PATHETIC!

I won't worry, at least till after they start taxing the rich. If you can't buy all the loopholes you want, then you are really not rich.

>>Which "policies" are these and how are only Dems "profiting?"

>>Of course, the "$100 million" figure is a high-end estimate by one source. Low end was supposed to be $60 million, which is a whole different thing even for government.

(supposed to be a purposeful government trip but the Obamas have dragged along their daughters, grandma Robinson and teenage cousin).
You can't bring your relatives along for sightseeing and then say, oh yeah this is for developing trade and improving 'relations'.

>>It's a government trip. The First Family is perfectly entitled to bring along their kids, as MANY Presidents from both parties have always done. You most certainly can take an official trip and bring family along, businessmen do it ALL the time.

Americans are still hurting, the recovery is still fragile, relations between the 2 parties is still tentative and the Obamas flaunt their excess in our faces.

>>As noted, no "excess" and no "flaunting." What this is is another hypocritical Rightie talking-point.

It's audacious to spend ONE HUNDRED MILLION on an 8 DAY TRIP, while bitching about money, taxation.

>>Um, you keep saying the same thing over and over...exaggerating it more every time. Are you sane?

Is Granny paying her way? How about the teenage cousin of Malia and Sacha did her parents shell out the cost for her food, transportation and hotel rooms.
PATHETIC!

>>Yes, your post was indeed pathetic. Lying, exaggerating, hating on the First Family, launching partisan attacks....what a shameful display. You should apologize.

One way to replace the federal income tax is with national sales tax.

One way I think that would help would also to a specific tax. If they want more money for roads then call it a road tax, If they want more money for education then call it an education tax. These taxes go up and DOWN as project or program funding requirements are met.

I also think everyone get's hung up on percentages. How much revenue would ONE PENNY for every 10 dollars purchased bring in? Or how about one penny for every transaction. If a Kmart makes a 1000 transactions per day then that would be 10$ a day from one store. Multiply by the thousands of stores and businesses and seven days a week , 52 weeks a year that could add up. I'd rather see business collecting a PENNY tax than an individual have to pay an income tax. I'd also much rather see much more straight forward tax or bill without percentages going to a general fund.

The also need to find and use things like the Spanish Civil War tax. Or use these surcharges and fees that are on your phone bill especially.

The money is there to be had.

Well, only $60 million for a vacation, that makes sense now. Hell that's a little less than $10million a day. A bargain really. All we can hope for is they don't use the normal 40% cost overrun.

If only they could levy a special tax against the Koch Bros. and use it to take a $200 million dollar vacation. I'd love to go along and spend the ill-gotten gains of some corrupt Conservatives!

We do need real tax reform. The kind that makes everyone pay their fair share. Right now about 1% pay the majority of income tax while nearly half pay nothing. Maybe an exemption for single, married or family, then pay a flat tax above that with no other deductions. By doing that the tax rate could be well under 10% for everyone. Or maybe drop the income tax altogether, rid us of the IRS and go to a user tax.......

Unfortunetly the IRS/income tax return will never go because that's how he federal government tracks you like a tagged shark on the Discovery Channel. Your social security number is a tag and they mark and take note of your location, income, occupation, wealth and now your health every single year. You wind up updating your own government dossier on you for the government every time that return is filled out.

Throw in the jobs the politicians need to throw out there for favors it will never go.

The IRS still could be used as a collection agency for an alternative tax/system but that's too complex for the bureaucracy to figure out or convert to. Meaning the sos as far as taxes go.
