You spammed the thread because you are obviously incapable of posting a link.......Edith Windsor DEFINITELY had standing to bring the suit, and she has been harmed by having to pay an enormous amount of estate tax when she was legally married in Canada in 2007 and New York started to recognize legal marriages performed elsewhere in 2008......her wife did not die until 2009........it matters not when New York started to issue marriage licenses to Same-Sex Couples, but when they started to recognize them that is important!!!
Also, the Federal Government can NOT define marriage as they see fit!!!
Sorry, but Section 3 of DOMA is probably going to be ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL with at least a 5-4 ruling, if not a 6-3 ruling!!!
Seems GTF needs to parrot smarter people...

i've ben telling her that for aver a year...

First of all....harm is not about paying a tax (as the government is full of taxes)....

Secondly, she was not even legally married in the United States at the time of her partner's death.....

There is no 'harm' to this person, and her case has 'no' standing in federal court. It should have been thrown out at the federal level, but some cowards prefer the Supreme Court take the heat for upholding the laws of this nation....

The other poster asked for legitimate 'legal' reasons why DOMA will not be struck down...where I got the truth is irrelevant...it is the truth, and DOMA will stand....

It seems you are still not smart enough to recognize the truth without trying to turn it into something else...get over it...you will probably lose.....

yes, in fac t harm can be more taxes than another citizen in an equal situation. proven precedent...sorry...

the standing seems to have been agreed upon by the court. again...so sorry...seems your prediciton about DOMA is going to be wrong.

no biggie, you are wrong all the time.

they didn't make nearly the deal out of it as in the california case...or is that the one you're thinking of?

I doubt standing will be an issue.

Actually, standing 'is' the issue. It's the 'first' issue before anything else can even be discussed....

Actually, the ACLJ attached a brief along with the defenders of DOMA on this very subject, so it 'has' to be reviewed and answered prior to moving on...this case will be dismissed, and DOMA will stand...

It's a federal law, you idiot! Where else would it be tried except federal court?
I can't believe you are THIS stupid.
It should have been dismissed by the lower court. It should never have been presented to the supreme court. The cowards at the lower courts know the Supreme Court will knock this down, and they can say their hands are clean and not have to worry about ssm 'extremists' lining their front lawns and climbing through their windows...

Let me put it to YOU this way: Whoever wrote the article you copied was dumber than a box of rocks. Windsor & Spyer were married in Canada in 2007.
Will you EVER learn to STOP reading neocon BULLSHIT propaganda??????
Really???? Do you realize that ssm is NOT nationally recognized in the U.S., therefore, it is not a 'given' that a gay couple is 'married' in the U.S.

Secondly, New York didn't recognize gay marriage until 2 years after her partner died, so by New York law...they were not legally married...what don't you get???

Uh-oh...the truth has 'somebody' mad....

See how you all act when you don't get your way in a debate...that's the way you will act when the Supreme Court shuts this nonsense down and DOMA is declared constitutional....that's why the lower court let it through...

helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooo.......... I can't believe you are this stupid. Who appealed the case, shit-for-brains?
I know CHILDREN that have a better understanding of our court system. You are EXACTLY what is wrong with this country.
Of course the defenders of DOMA had to take it to the Supreme Court...the lower courts left them no choice...they should have struck the suit down on their own levels, instead of ruling in favor of the plaintiffs....you are not saying anything that makes this point any less clearer...

if it was a serious consideration, it would have been discussed in oral presentation, as it was with the california case...

denial of reality is classic cult member mindset. on the other thread, she is desperately trying to link marriage to her cult's rite of matrimony....

and it led to a major well blowout in the gulf. Obama signed off on those poorly regulated drilling practices also, so he is not without blame, but now we know to better regulate the drilling for our own good. that will slow gulf oil production, but it will be cheaper in the long run, as cleaning up spills is far, far cheaper than preventing them.

I don't know you. I have no idea, since I haven't followed your posting career, If you are male or female. Therefore, I have no basis to form an "understanding" of your circumstance. Once again, if DOMA is overturned, I will live with. If it isn't I will live with it. My fingers are crossed that it will be set in stone, but que sera, sera.
