We interrupt this session of High School Microeconomics to bring you the hard, cold, cruel on-topic facts:

Source: St. Louis Fed/FRED, Hoven's Index for June 30, 2010
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/06/g...

Changes in number of jobs:

• In last six months (Nov. 2009 to May 2010):+873,000

• In Bush's eight years (Jan. 2001 to Jan. 2009):+1,080,000

• In Obama's 17 months:-2,979,000

• When Republicans controlled House and Senate, Jan. 95 to Jan. 2001:+16,107,000

• When Congress/Senate were split, Jan. 01 to Jan. 03:-2,203,000

• When Republicans controlled House and Senate, Jan. 03 to Jan. 07:+6,801,000

• When Democrats controlled House and Senate, Jan. 07 to present (May):-6,497,000

• Since December 2007 (peak):-7,381,000

The marxist subversive-in-chief has already cost us nearly 3 million jobs, and 6.5 million jobs have been lost since the democRATS took control of both houses of congress in January, 2007. And if you take government jobs (and census jobs) out of the equation.....the number of jobs lost by Reich Chancellor Obama and his National Socialist Democratic Party is MUCH, MUCH higher.

BO = EPIC FAIL. Case closed.

Obama promised to create 5 MILLION new jobs at cost of $150 billion over 10 years.

Instead, nearly 3 million jobs have been lost under Obama, and 6.5 million jobs have been lost since the democRATS took control of both houses of congress in January, 2007. And if you take government jobs (and census jobs) out of the equation.....the number of jobs lost by Reich Chancellor Obama and his National Socialist Democratic Party is MUCH, MUCH higher.

And he only spent $3 TRILLION.

Under George Bush under the federal deficit was a mere $161 billion in the last budget (FY 2007) before the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress in January 2007. Whereupon they increased it to $461 billion before Bush left office, and then to $1.42 trillion in the most recent fiscal year (FY 2009) under Obama -- an increase of $1.26 trillion or 776%. While the FY 2010 deficit is projected to come in at another $1.5 trillion, along with a TRIPLING of the national debt.

President Bush -- for all his fiscally LIBERAL policies -- brought us back from the dot-com bust and 9/11. Under Bush we had an all-time record 52 consecutive months of job growth, the DOW was at 14,000, the deficit under $161 billion, and unemployment at 4.2 - 4.5%.....UNTIL the democrats took over the House AND the Senate in January, 2007. And President Bush didn't RUIN Americans' futures for generations in the name of some whacked anti-American subversive marxist's disingenuous, anti-capitalism, pro-union, 24/7 politics-first America-last, marxist ideology and hidden agenda for wealth-redistributive social justice, along with TRILLIONS in union payoffs on the backs of American taxpayers.

No one should forget what happened after January 20th, 2007, when the DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS.

After which they added $4 trillion to the national debt (+45.3%), tripled the deficit, increased the debt limit by $5.33 trillion (+59.4%), turned the projected $800 billion surplus over the ten-year period FY 2008-2017 into a $9.7 trillion deficit, doubled unemployment, legislated billions in payoffs to state unions and union pensions, created record poverty, record food stamp enrollment, record foreclosures, record-low private sector pay, record-high government pay, undertaken government takeovers of our economy, added ruinous new taxes and regulations, ruined our healthcare system, and utterly crippled business, confidence, and prosperity in America.

No one should forget what happened after January 20th, 2007, when the DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS (the start of the 110th Congress).

From: http://www.topix.com/forum/us/politics/T50ESI...

Since 2007...

• The National Debt.....has increased from $8.67 trillion to $12.6 trillion—an increase of $3.93 trillion or 45.3%.

• The Debt Limit.....has increased six times. Since the Democrats took over Congress, the debt limit has increased from $8.965 trillion to $14.29 trillion -- an increase of $5.33 trillion or 59.4%.

• The Deficit.....has increased from $161 billion in the last budget before Democrats took control of the Congress (FY 2007) to $1.42 trillion in the most recent fiscal year (FY 2009)-- an increase of $1.26 trillion or 776%. The FY 2010 deficit is projected to come in at another $1.5 trillion.

•$10.5 Trillion Deterioration to Nation’s Budget Outlook.....The same month Democrats took control of Congress (January 2007), CBO, under then CBO Director Peter Orszag, projected an $800 billion surplus over the ten-year period FY 2008-2017. Today, covering the same period—including the actual deficits from FY 2008 and FY 2009—as well as what the President proposes in his budget for fiscal years 2011 through 2017, that $800 billion surplus turns into a $9.7 trillion deficit. This is a $10.5 trillion worsening of the budget outlook in three years of Democrat control of the Congress.

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to those propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

AT THE TIME:
* The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

* The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

* The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

* George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

REMEMBER THE DAY...
* January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!!!

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOS!(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac????
OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie???
OBAMA and the Democratic Congress

So when some one tries to blame Bush...

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER! Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving.

Set the record straight on Bush! Place responsibility where it belongs.

Your right, TM.

Bush's spending was outrageous as well, but nowhere near that of the democrats and Obama. While Bush's tax cuts added to the deficit, they also did as intended by growing the GDP and halting the dot-com recession and the disastrous effects of 9/11.

If you look at the deficit data, you can see that the republicans ultimately reduced the deficit to $162 billion in the last budget (FY 2007) before the democrats took control of congress.

Tragically, the democrats $4 TRILLION in spending has yielded NOTHING other than economic disaster and massive debt, as I pointed out in post #1 above. Liberal policies always result in failure.

Oh SNAP! Obama Expands Foodstamps for College Kids!

April 9, 2010
By Christine Morabito

Call me crazy, but when I needed money for college, I got a job. Sure, I missed a few TKE parties and games like “quarters,” but it built character and kept me out of trouble (mostly). I was recently dumbfounded to learn of another entitlement program slated for expansion.

This one is aimed at college students. It’s the former food stamp program that was renamed in 2008 to Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program or SNAP. The program is being championed by both universities and—you guessed it—our federal government. Come to think of it, my school had a supplemental nutrition program of sorts. We called it the keg party.

The promoters of SNAP were concerned that students might be embarrassed to use food stamp coupons, so they came up with a nifty credit card. After all, doesn’t every student have a right to a credit card? I’m sure it fits nicely inside their trapper keepers. By the way, do the kids still use trapper keepers? Why not make an app for their iphones (surely they all have one), and have groceries delivered right to their door.

Those students with discriminating tastes prefer to use the credit at high end organic stores like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. What, no ramen noodles or mac and cheese? Goodbye government cheese—hello government brie!

The welfare state mentality has truly jumped the shark. About 13% of Americans are now on food stamps. It was no surprise to me that Obama’s latest budget calls for 72.5 billion in food stamps–nearly double the amount in 2008. If these programs work so well, shouldn’t we have fewer people on them? This administration is doing everything in its power to promote “cradle to grave” entitlements.

I have no problem with food stamps for the needy, but to expand the program to include college students?

NO.
