It would indeed be hypocritical if the US flag were a commonly recognized as a symbol of racial discrimination. The confederate flag on the other hand not only is, but is also used by racists and racist groups to represent their cause. Everybody knows.

It's a overreaching stretch of your imagination as an incredible attempt to sell a false equivalence to reduce the symbolic meaning of the US flag to that of the confederate flag. Why be devious?

The confederate flag represents homeland terrorists. The confederate soldiers were rebels that attacked the United States of America and lost. The fact that people still fly or support the confederate flag only shows how truly ignorant and dumb they are.

Oh yes, I forgot to point out that while you appear to use the term "stars and bars" to refer to the US flag at least based on the context of your response to my post "stars and bars" is generally used in reference to confederate flags, as opposed to "stars and stripes," which is the standard reference to the US flag. Or were you taught to pledge your allegiance to the confederate flag, as literal interpretation of your response would indicate?

Rhode Island was heavily involved in the slave trade during the post-revolution era. In 1774, the slave population of Rhode Island was 6.3%, nearly twice as high as any other New England colony. In the years after the Revolution, Rhode Island merchants controlled between 60% and 90% of the American trade of African slaves.[33][34]

Yes Ted you are correct. Fortunately we fought on the right side during the Civil war and we weren't racist homeland terrorists like the Confederacy. Ever hear of the Vanderbilts? They lived in GA but had a summer home in RI. We are also home to the first baptist church and the first colony to separate Church from State. Since your so interested Ted, why don't you look up Roger Williams. Funny, you get your info from KKK websites? Thanks for all the compliments, I am a true hero.

How ironic is it that you're unable to organize or present cogent arguments to those with whom you disagree, but only call them "dumb" and especially on top of not knowing the difference between the "stars and bars" flag and the "stars and stripes" flag and then even refusing to acknowledge it? How smart is that?

I'll not waste my time trying to have a reasonable conversation with you since we know that you'll keep dishing insults.

I'm liking this Ted guy. Reminds me of my Nazi brother Tom.

I agree with Ted that Rhode Island is racist, therefore Jrad is the real racist, and Ted/Tom is not.

Ok Ted, I'm taking my compliments anyways. Funny how Tom and STM leave and some new guy Ted shows up that is equally dumb. You couldn't even come up with another monosyllabic name that doesn't begin with T. Smh. How old are you? Derrrrrr.

Sir, I made a mistake in calling the America Flag "Stars and Bars" as that's a Confederate flag.

How ironic it is that you made the mistake in calling the American flag "Stars and Strips". I think you will find the American flag is called the "Star Spangled Banner". Perhaps if you would over come your hate you would know more about the true history of the United States.

Odds are you will post back saying the American flag in called the "Stars and Strips" Just like the Confederate flag is called other names. Like the Confederate" battle flag "at which it was not. Look up the history and you shall have the answer to that.

Age could clearly be an issue here. I've given up on this person (or these folks, as may be the case) due to the consistent pattern of difficulty formulating and presenting information that's completely inaccurate and backing it with personal insults.

"It would indeed be hypocritical if the US flag were a commonly recognized as a symbol of racial discrimination".

Sir, I did not make the facts, just bringing them to your attention. Two wrongs will never make for a right. Just read the history. Stating facts does not make me devious. And I can understand why you would like to portray me as being so.

Sir, you can rant about me all you wish but, you cannot erase history. Nor, will I let you dictate how I should form my thoughts.

"African slavery is so much the outstanding feature of the South, in the unthinking view of it, that people often forget there had been slaves in all the old colonies. Slaves were auctioned openly in the Market House of Philadelphia; in the shadow of Congregational churches in Rhode Island; in Boston taverns and warehouses; and weekly, sometimes daily, in Merchant's Coffee House of New York. Such Northern heroes of the American Revolution as John Hancock and Benjamin Franklin bought, sold, and owned black people. William Henry Seward, Lincoln's anti-slavery Secretary of State during the Civil War, born in 1801, grew up in Orange County, New York, in a slave-owning family and amid neighbors who owned slaves if they could afford them. The family of Abraham Lincoln himself, when it lived in Pennsylvania in colonial times, owned slaves."

The above is off the internet. However, you can go to the Library Of Congress and read even more about slaves in the North under the Star Spangled Banner/American flag.

What is the "Stars and Strips", a new club in Vegas?
