Where White House touts a boom, most economists see a blip

There are 50 comments on the 680News story from Aug 17, 2018, titled Where White House touts a boom, most economists see a blip. In it, 680News reports that:

Is the latest pickup in U.S. economic growth destined to slow in the years ahead as most analysts say? Or, as the Trump administration insists, is the economy on the cusp of an explosive boom that will reward Americans and defy those expectations? On Thursday, President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser made his case for the boom. Calling mainstream predictions "pure nonsense," Larry Kudlow declared that the expansion - already the second-longest on record - is merely in its "early innings."

Evidently if you're a progressive, antifa democrat, the booming economy, the second longest expansion in history, is bad thing. The more people working for a living instead of relying on the government, means fewer democrat votes.

It's just another flurry of deregulation stock trading. We'll soon see what source of other people's money they've been gambling with when the bubble bursts. That money is already overseas and will never return.

Guess again. I've already posted often that I go though a proxy which ranges all over the US and Canada, and often Greece of late but Topix always tosses those out.

Try NE Ohio. We're the #hithole of political corruption, the Dogpatch of the 21st century, forever vapor locked by family men who will never rock the boat. We have both liberals and conservatives and they both should be hung out on the White House fence to explain the problem.

I am glad to see you acknowlage that under Obama the 1% prospered while the middle class continued to see reduced wages. In fact real family income was lower when Obama left office than when he entered office.
Of course while it makes a nice headline the main reason for the smaller wealth gap in Russia and Iran is the fact that they have fewer wealthy people.

What good is more wealthy people, if all they do is hoard the money? It DOES NOT TRICKLE DOWN. That is and always has been a farce. The gap started with poor thought out Republican Reaganomics. Actually, I take that back. It was well thought out, because they did exactly what their rich donors wanted, but sold it to the uneducated right as if it would actually work.

What good are more poor people? Personally I would rather live in a country of wealthy people then a country of poor people.
The gap between rich and poor in this country increased under Obama as fast or faster than it has for the past 30 years. That is a fact that the article actually supports. The other fact that the article does not contain, because the article is over a year old is that for the first time in over a decade the real average family income in the U.S. has increased over the last 18 months and is now higher than when Obama took office.
As for "rich donors' the fact is they supported Hillary not Trump and no wonder. After how well they did under Obama, middle class wages down, stock markets and unemployment up, he did just what wealthy Democrats paid him to do and Hilary promised to continue his legacy of deceased wages, increased profits and increased social turmoil.

Sort of forgot everyone's 401Ks and retirement accounts. All the old folks have these and any one else with a brain should. When you get a job you will see you get these instead of a pension in most cases.

Trump style populism relies on a sentimental and very old-fashioned view that the uneducated population knows better in its instincts than the over-refined elite. That leads to anti-intellectualism, which is self-destructive for everyone. The rejection of rationality and analysis is something politicians can easily capitalize on. President and Huckster in Chief Donald J. Trump is a plutocrat in populist's clothing. So far, it has worked for him but it is destined to crash hard when it does.
