Why doesn't the USDA crack down on meats and fish that we receive from China!
They mix rotting meat with semi-fresh meat and ship it to well-known American companies, who in turn sell it to the American public.
American companies label the packaging with:
Packed in the USA, or
Distributed in the USA, or
Sold exclusively in the USA.
Your Rice-A-Roni products are "DISTRIBUTED" by Golden Grain Co.
There is even an "AMERICAN FISH CO." in China.
These products are sold at a certain Club store.
BOYCOT any and all products from China !!!!
A few months ago, 50 children in India died after eating at the school cafeteria.
The food came from China.

Agriculture now includes pets?
Is there no end to the ways Obama finds to waste American capital?
Don't get me wrong. People who want to buy an animal should be confident that the animals is healthy. But, why so we need the Federal Government involved?

They just let China buy out some chicken plants here. They also just passed a bill allowing chickens to be sent across the ocean to China to be "cleaned" and sent back for sale here. This administration has zero plans to reign in on China.

Your nuts. Do you know how many products are used here daily that do not orgininate inside the USA? That majaority of your sugar, Canola Oil, Olive Oil, and quite a few other oils that viturally all big food retailers would use then increasing the cost of viturally the entire food stock.
I understand the need of making the market open to farmers here inside the USA but if you think taxing all imports at 50% will do that, you are mistaken.

No you not going to grow olives here and canola oil doesnt come from the US, and the best we can do for sugar here is the sugar beats.
I havent even touched the spice market where the vast majority would not be able to be grown here; unless you do in indoors which would vastly increase it's price, and there are plenty of others just like this. You need to learn a bit more about global food markets and the country of origin from many of the staple products.

You know canola oil doesnt come from any other country than Canada right?
Yes i know all about food safety in regards to countries like China and Mexico. I work for in QA for a rather large company and our business unit deals scrictly in oils/shortenings and such. Part of my QA team's job is to approved suppliers; suppliers whom lots of times comes from other countries.
I have access to those facilities 3rd party audits as well as their HACCP plans amoung other things that let us make a detemination on food safety.
But none of that matters, including you last posts as putting a 50% tarrif on imported goods would kill many business' inside the USA and well as send food prices sky high. Spices will go thru the roof as well as many base oils.
Side effects will also include raised prices in pharma, pet feeds, and cosmetics as many of the same oils are used in all those industries.
You want to increase food safety, then massively increasing taxes on all imports isnt the way to do so.

According to Frugal Cooking magazine, it costs less to ship a 20 pound box full of live puppies than it does 5 pounds of frozen chicken.
You tell me which is the better deal when you have friends and family coming over for a BBQ.

Whatever it costs you a week to live, give it up. It doesn't pay.

This agency is worse than useless. Recently they decided that there are acceptable levels of fecal matter in the meat we consume. During the reagan administration they changed the meat grading system so consumers got royally screwed! If this agency is not going to protect consumers it should be defunded!

They have long had rules stating fecal levels in food. I am not aware of them recently changing the values of those fecal levels.
