Oh, please...spare us the false moralizing. You slept like a baby knowing that Saddam Hussein used poison gas against the Kurds, killing far more than Assad did in this recent attack.<quoted text>The tentative plan would not cost your son his life, since it does not contemplate the use of feet on the ground.
I can understand your hesitancy, considering the potential repercussions. On the one hand it could be argued that when you slaughter people, the means of doing so hardly matter. But when I see a video of an infant choking to death from gas fumes, I want to terminate those who caused that death.
Then there is the argument that this is a civil war, and therefore none of our business. I don't agree. I believe the slaughter of innocent people anywhere is the business of every human being with a pumping heart.
Finally, if we let tyrants get away with the use of chemical weapons, think what this could mean for other madmen in leadership positions around the world. Eventually these chemical weapons would be aimed at us.
You have all the fervor of the recently converted. Usually that applies to someone who's found religion, not war mania.
More importantly, a pin-prick token attack will do nothing but prove our impotence and lack of will, thus encouraging the dictators and tyrants. Want to send a message? Direct all those missiles at Iran's nuclear program. Syria is just their puppet anyway. There's no doubt about their WMD program. Hell, they're proud of it!
