Diversion.

Much better had they talked about the $17.4 trillion dollar debt.

Or the hundreds of millions spent on the obamacare web site. Not one of those dollars provided any health care at all for he 30 million uninsured we were attempting to cover.

Russia and the Crimea would have been worthy discussion material.

The IRS corruption.

The NSA spying.

The lies about Benghazi.

The DOJ spying on journalists.

Nope, with a hiatus in temperature increases and one of the coldest winters on record for the US, and US production of CO2 less than that of the mid 1990s, our esteemed senators chose to spend the evening denying the existence of the real problems in favor of the one 'problem' they can do nothing about.

It's a 'do nothing congress' alright, just look at the senate.

Sen. Christopher Murphy -Connecticut: Ski industry in Connecticut is in trouble & may not exist in the future. The main rail line runs exactly along the coastline. A rail bridge along the coast, was only saved from Hurricane Sandy by a sand dune that took the brunt of the storm. Without the sand dune, the rail bridge would have been lost & rail traffic would have been down for months if not longer. The sand dune no longer exists due to Sandy, so any similar future storm will down the rail line. In truth many other exposures along the shore can also be removed due to any powerful storm occurring. Eleven percent of NYC is in flood plain. Insurers plan, due to Congressional deadbeat re-pubic-lick-un inaction on AGW, that the U.S. will not take immediate steps to AGW & rates already are rising. Not only are insurance of item costs increasing, but health insurance costs are escalating, due to increasing sickness from malaria, lyme disease, & other diseases spread by insects.

Koch Brothers & other old-line industrials flood the communication lines with millions of dollars of old-line ideas.

Sen. Tim Kaine, Virginia, talking in U.S. Senate, stated that innovation in the gas industry is why coal-powered electricity plants now only supply 37% of national electricity. Sen. Kaine, says that coal is needed, but to regain its electrical generation percentages, it must innovate for cleaner coal emissions, as the gas industry innovated.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota says her state rules are aimed to produce its renewable portfolio to 25% by 2025. Another state has aimed at 30%. New in-home hot water heaters are timed to heat water during the night, when wind turbine electrical energy is strongest, people have heated water in the morning, & hot water heaters are turned off during the power grid maximum in the early morning.
//////////
Sen. Edward Markey, Massachusetts states, his state loses 49 football fields of land per year due to rising oceans, Walden Pond's flowers blossom 10 days earlier than the dates recorded by Henry David Thoreau. Increasing global temperatures increase bad air days, stressing people & children with breathing difficulties. Storm surges on top of sea rises are aimed to cost hundreds of billions of dollars. Massachusetts is on line to have Virginia temperatures in 2100. Wind deployment needs steady tax incentives as oil, gas, & coal. Efforts to increase gas exports will raise gas prices by 50%, & increase coal usage. One hundred environmental leaders from around the world has stated that the U.S. is the leader in environmental policy world-wide, & MUST lead the world.
//////////
Sen. Angus King, Independent, Maine, states that the lobster industry, centered just south of Massachusetts in 1970's has translated to the shores of Maine, as lobsters seek lower temperature waters. Muir Glacier, Alaska as with the great majority of world glaciers, are disappearing....... quickly. Climate change, much more greatly felt in 3rd world countries, is causing more "radical students for Al-Qaeda". Coal can be used, with intense innovation in coal-science emissions reduction.
The Maine rototiller rule: borrow your neighbor's rototiller, return it in the same condition you borrowed it, with a full tank of gas. We borrow the environment from our children. We must return it to our children in as good a condition as we borrowed it. We have NOT borrowed the environment safely from our children.
//////////
Sen. Jeff merkley, D-Oregon: Presenting a photograph that a quick view, appeared to be a forest fire burn of a hillside. Instead, it was a photograph of pine-beetle damage that is spreading to regions that used to be protected from pine-beetles due to their cold climate..... which is warming now & pine-beetles ARE spreading to other regions. Fish, specially trout, salmon, & steelhead are best in cold streams & rivers. As glaciers decrease, streams & rivers are warming, & fish quality is decreasing.
//////////
Sen. Christopher Coons, Delaware: Delaware has the lowest elevation of any state, only averaging 60 feet! Sea level at Delaware has tripled in 200 years as well as Delaware is sinking. Several of his communities, towns, & even cities, will be submerged from both effects by 2100. Delaware's republican governor, Russell Peterson passed shoreline protection legislation, not to develop. Echos other reports that fish stocks are moving northward. Delaware was the lead state to examine climate change possibilities.

Sen. Brian Schatz-Hawaii: Only one in one thousand published Science Papers disagree with AGW. Defense Department states, AGW is an accelerant to conflict possibilities. Generals, Admirals state that AGW is a significant security challenge. Insurers state AGW is already happening & causing economic damage. Big business states that AGW is the greatest economic OPPORTUNITY in the 21st century. U.S. economy was stimulated with air & water pollution control legislations. AGW is ripe, world-wide for innovation of ideas to solve AGW. China is declaring war on air, water & land pollution, & AGW is also targeted. Hawaii has targeted renewable portfolio to be 40% by 2040.
//////////
Sen. Martin Heinrich-New Mexico: 1996 & 2006 plant hardiness zone maps show dramatic northward bio-mass motions in almost all regions. In addition plant hardiness zones show rises in ELEVATION. Outdoor fire intensity is at its very highest & rising. Coupled with the translation of plant hardiness zones, large conifers whose large & thick barks protected them from fire, are now dying because fire intensity has increased to the point of killing these most large & sturdy trees, even to the very top of mountains & not recovering. Sixty percent of large conifers are targeted by AGW to disappear on the highest New Mexico mountains by 2060. New Mexico farm districts are very dependent of snow packs, which in recent years are taking large & continued hits, considered as bad as California drought conditions. Elephant Butte Reservoir has dropped 97% since its maximum of 2million acre-feet of capacity. Snow packs are one fifth of its past normals, which now look to be developing new norms & collapses. Conservation of resources & efficiency is the cheapest method of resource management possible. Energy efficiency businesses are one of the largest growing business sectors in the U.S. New Mexico is working to add national electrical grid capacity. No legislator is entitled to their own facts to oppose careful scientific science & developing science thought.
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: According to Henry Kissinger: Conflicts are spurred by a "Confluence of Resentments". On top of these "confluences of resentments" is the stress of AGW, & against the U.S., which has contributed most to AGW, knew its scientists spoke truthfully about AGW...... & do nothing about AGW.
//////////
Sen. Brian Schatz-Hawaii: Some Hawaiian Electric Grids now are 20% to 30%, renewable portfolio. Trying to develop a smart grid. Hawaiian company trying to develop a new turbine to increase aerodynamic efficiency by 15% to 20%. Only by swapping out the turbine would jump the power development for each turbine.
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: Solar array installation price at the plug on homes became equal in price to fossil fuel electric supply. So legislation jammed thru by re-pubic-lick-un ALEC & Koch brothers, sought to tax the solar arrays to stop competition with fossil fuels. Both the Sierra Club, PLUS THE TEA PARTY combined to defeat the measure.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: In 2010, Citizens United, after a victory before the Supreme Court, helped by the Koch Brothers to flood elections with money, not just re-pubic-lick-uns against democrats, but re-pubic-lick-uns vs. re-pubic-lick-uns who were absolutely dead-set against AGW.
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: Acidification of oceans is affecting shell making for important shellfish species. An immediate affect has been the decrease of oyster farming on the coast of Washington state.
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: Fisheries are changing rapidly. Fish that used to be plentiful are rare, while fish never found off the shores of Rhode Island, are being caught..... both incidences show a direct effect of warming ocean waters changing fish populations.
//////////
Sen. Brian Schatz-Hawaii: By the year 2039 half of ski areas on the east coast of the U.S. will not exist. Thirteen percent of ski areas in the Cascade mountains & 60% of the ski areas in the Olympic mountains are already being affected negatively.
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: With high CO2 emissions continued, 2/3rds of the past Winter Olympic sites will not be viable. The National Hockey League states that frozen lakes & other waters, which helped boys & young men develop their hockey skills are decreasing & hockey skills needed professionally, are at risk
//////////
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: 14000 Science Papers have been written on AGW. Only 24 papers reject AGW.

The Senator continues:
Leaders of the re-pubic-lick-un party must bring their membership away from the brink of their destruction.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse-Rhode Island: Fifty three percent of YOUNG republicans, when polled about global climate denial, described deniers as ignorant, out-of-touch or crazy.
//////////
Sen. Brian Schatz-Hawaii: Hawaii has lots of wind energy, altho some winds do not coincide with maximum electric grid draw. Technology is advancing to make the renewable energy possibilities integrate into the Electric Grid more efficiently. Our state's efficiency program is ground breaking, well on its way to meet its goal of 25% renewable portfolio by 2020.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal- Connecticut: Rare destructive storms are no longer rare. Increasing AGW droughts, snow storms, hurricanes & large storm fronts are 3 times more common. The threat is now & we must face the changes as if they are eminent, because they are. Stagnation & disfunction in Washington D.C. must be broken, because we are leaving America worse than we found it. Fire seasons are longer, starting sooner & lasting PAST the regular time periods. Failure to fix our elected powerlessness, leave our shorelines with continued non-protection against AGW. Warmer summers sound like a good idea, except AGW is prone to climate extremes, both hot & cold. Increased rainfalls will be delivered in more punctuated low quantities of drought & high quantities of major storms. The Northeast could see 20% to 30% more spring storms. Areas receiving a few 100 degF days, may see 20+ such days. Maple sugar trees should move further north, disrupting the maple sugar industry. Hurricanes Irene, Sandy & 2010-11 snow storms were wake up calls(tho re-pubic-lick-uns never woke up). New car efficiency standards will save $8000 per vehicle over the lifetime of the vehicle. Our infra-structure is deteriorating & our tax monies pay the gov'ts & businesses responsible for infra-structure collapse.
/////
Sen. Jack Reed-Rhode Island: AGW is slow moving, AGW to be whittled out of the noise of short term, but continuing weather. The slow, but changing dynamic is showing the future will be even more severe, than our already seen extremes. Sea rise has discussions of sea walls in parts of Manhattan (a sea wall is already surrounding the new One World Trade Center). Storms are causing shoreline infra-structure to weaken & our delay to maintain shorelines, weaken them all the more. AGW is a challenge, but it is also an opportunity. Roads are so poor, due to AGW driven Arctic cold driven south from the North Pole.
l//////
Sen. Tom Udall-New Mexico: Ninety percent of New Mexico is in extreme drought since 2010-11. Snowpacks are only one third to 40% of normal. Rio Grande river is not grand & the Senator last year stood by the river when it had no water. Northern New Mexico is predicted to not have forests. The deserts in Mexico south of the border, may be the terrain of New Mexico, by 2100. Solar power is competitive to coal, right now. New Mexico is 17th in wind turbine electrical energy generation, providing 6% of New Mexico's electrical portfolio. New Mexico has advanced fuels Algae production.

Sen. Ben Cardin-Maryland: Smith Island, with a few hundred residence has lost 3300 acres of their land. While bald eagles have returned to Black Water NWR, Black Water itself is endangered from warming bay & ocean temperatures.
//////////
Sen. Maria Cantwell-Washington: Salmon food source is dependent on ocean acidification. U.S. fisheries include 1 million jobs. Oceans absorb 25% of CO2. Ocean acidification has increased 30% in the last 200 years. Oyster larvae are not able to form with inundating ocean acidification, reducing yields by 60%. Teripods, the food for salmon, are not forming properly due to ocean acidification. Ten million scallop died off, near Vancouver, B.C.
///////
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen-New Hampshire: AGW is dulling New England fall maple colors. Fewer snow days & fewer maple sugar production. Sugar maples may be eliminated in the future New England. Moose population is down 40% due to AGW warmed winters that haven't killed off ticks.

Sen. Bill Nelson-Florida: 14 million people live along the coast. That will double by 2040(?). Most of Florida's coast will be flooded, some areas deeply inland. The Florida Keys will be gone. Much of the Everglades will be ocean water inundated. The Senator, who was an astronaut, was also Florida insurance commissioner. He tried to get the Insurance Industry interested in protecting Florida shorelines, which the insured. The insurance industry buried its head in the ground. Miami Beach, will buy sea pumps & build sea walls, while asking the Neatherlands for information. Sea water inundation from rising tides is beginning to intrude on fresh water city supplies.

slimy steenking toxic topix AGW deniers keep reducing the quantity of the Arctic ice sheet recovery from 60%, to 50% & now to 29%, & they still are wrong. You writing "harm on us"?

Arctic sea ice VOLUME, as of March 1, 2014 is 0.5% to 1% lower than that of the "2010-to-current" time range. Average Arctic sea ice VOLUME for March 1, for the period 1980-89, was ~28,200 cubic kilometers. Present March 1, 2014 sea ice VOLUME is ~20,800 cubic kilometers,~7400 cubic kilometers less than the 1980-89 period for March 1.

Enhanced AGW warm fronts are increasingly pushing into the Arctic, causing North Pole temperatures to soar. For the last 4-5 months, millions of square kilometers around the NP have averaged way over normal temperatures, sometimes as high as 16degC(29degF) over normal. Such powerful energies have pushed cold Arctic air far to the south, over Canada & the U.S . The cold Arctic airs have even been pushed to other regions, Mexico, Centra America, southern China, India, Iran, Iraq, & Northern Africa, setting cold temperature records.

slimy steenking toxic topix AGW deniers are truly blind, often are slimy steenking filthy vile reprobate rooting(& rotting) racist pukey proud pigs & sometimes are alleged &/or proud threateners.

You see........slimy steenking toxic topix AGW deniers dont have time for science, chemistry, astronomy, physics, algebra or pre-calc in their poorly (or non-) earned hi skule DEE-plooomaas.
