Of course the husband is usually the person with the gun.
Or boyfriend.
Or someone she is dating.
Celia Bigelow and Aubrey Blankenship summed up their praise for the AR-15 in their National Review column:

"The AR-15 is lightweight and practical. As light as five pounds, it produces low levels of recoil, and it’s easy to shoot. It also looks intimidating, which is what you want when facing an assailant or intruder.… Accuracy? Check. Ease in handling? Check. Intimidation factor? Check. An AR-15 might be a woman’s best friend."

LOL.

An ATM with real teeth..
Jail time for abusers.

Yawn.....

Democratic Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester of Montana, Mark Begich of Alaska, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Manchin of West Virginia all oppose the ban. Maine Sen. Angus King, an independent who usually leans left, is another naysayer.

Now Democratic Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas has also come out against the assault weapon ban.

That is six Democrats and a Democratic leaning Independent against the assault weapon ban and I wonder how Hary Reid will vote, don't you?

The stock market is mostly irrational and based on emotional reactions. The part that isn't is manipulated by a small group of power brokers only in it for themselves, producing nothing of substance.

Funny, now that I think about it, the market is just like liberalism.

The problem is not guns.

It's societal decay.

Common moral standards and the teaching of them have been attacked & vilified in the USA by the Progressive Left for ~80-plus years.

This is precisely what they've been working toward. Such chaos as we are currently seeing from the lack of a common moral framework that they feel have the excuse and publicity event(s) necessary to declare some sort of emergency to disarm and clamp down on the individual Rights and freedoms of the entire population.

An "emergency" that will never end. It's happening here just as it has in other places and to other peoples in the past. Except, we still yet have a chance.

Watch this documentary. It's extremely good at giving historical context to why it's a very VERY bad idea to allow anyone or any government to prevent you from being armed if you choose.

"Progressive" regarding the the ideology of the movement by that name, refers to "progressing" PAST the limitations on government power set forth in the US Constitution. To "progress" beyond it's limitations and effectively make government power limitless. The whole idea of a "living" Constitution is a fabrication from whole cloth by Progressives to allow bypassing of Constitutional restrictions on the scope and the powers of government.

You don't have a clue, do you? The stock market is several things. First a place to raise capitalization for new and expanding businesses through the sale of stock. Secondly a way to "Democratize" wealth through the broad based holding of securities by common citizens. Thirdly a way for people to augment their incomes, not through trading, but through dividends. Fourthly, a repository and a source of growth of pension funds. I know, the foregoing is gibberish to you , but you really should find out more of what you're talking about. What I'm trying to say is, the stock market is GOOD! You should try it some time!

I agree with you. My question was academic. "Progressive" is an acceptable, positive term to legitimize subversion. Whenever you see it think "subversive". There are those sick souls out there for whom nothing short of an human anthill will be good enough. Having lived around Expat Russians for a few years, I understand this mentality. You have to sit across the table from Andrei or a Sergei and have them tell you what a great leader Stalin was to know the depths of human insanity. "He man of shteel!" Yes, but at what costs to Russia? To people burdened with this philoshphy, his brutality was his strength, his paranoia was caution, His mega murders were just necessary to maintain his hold on Russia. Yet, these defenders of one history's worst madmen risked life and limb to get away from him!

The stock market IS a good thing, and the joke is, he's almost certainly already IN the stock market...whether he knows it or not!

The stock market is all over the place lately because the _government_ has been all over the place lately on fiscal policy, regulatory policy, tax policy, hell, just about EVERY policy!

The stock market is being propped up by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Dept. along with all the "stimulus" packages and "quantitative easing" money-printing and buying of our own debt.

This causes a slowdown in the velocity of US Dollars as shown (with charts) and explained here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_of_mone...

What happens is that eventually the Treasury/Fed must "re-uptake" these injected dollars, at which time, due to the extreme amounts and long duration of the pressure over the last several decades, there will be hyper-inflation followed by an economic collapse, which will "re-set" the currency and the markets.

It will NOT be pretty, and at this point there's little chance of avoiding it. Food, fuel, clothing, guns, ammo, and medical supplies & medicines will be the most important survival and barter items to have.

Murder is down 10,000 murders a year in this country since 1992, serious and violent crimes are down by more than 50% over the same period and this includes juvenile offenders as well, in spite of;

1) more violent video games,

2) more people populating the country, and,

3) almost double the firearms in private possession, including the prevalence of so called "assault rifles" and larger capacity magazines.

Your moral decay of society argument fails based on easily provable facts.

Of course, thinking people tie the drop in crime to the increase of the prison population, better police methods, more cops on the street, and the fact that criminals are getting older like the rest of America.

But don't let facts stand in your way, Dick.

You could list several hundred more things that have nothing to do with the crime rate.

Dick.

PS: for what it is worth: when the same gun nut buys two more guns to add to the six guns he already has, the only impact it has on crime is when the stupid sot has his house burglarized and his guns stolen, it would be adding to the problem, not taking it away.

In the end- when he shoots his wife and kills his family- it doesn't mater so much that he still has four guns he didn't use.
