The citizens, once again, are being left in the dark. First off, someone needs to give the public, in writing, a realistic idea of the maximum amount of landings/take-offs the airport will experience at top capacity around clock. Then let the public, possibly by referendum, say whether or not project will negatively impact the quality of life in said counties. Under no circumstances should this PRIVATE SECTOR project be funded by taxpayers. Tax breaks: There should be none! Jobs: Provide hard numbers, in writing, as to how many GOOD PAYING, Living Wage jobs will be created the day the airport opens, not after projected financial goals are met.

You want good paying jobs, let the airport be built! Quality of life in this area?? Not much gonna affect it! Everyone wants great paying jobs, but doesn't want any industry in their area because it will affect the quality of life. Give me a break!

Let me tell you something, I drove truck pulling loads out of DHL terminals in wilmington oh and allentown pa, only a very few high payng management jobs there, I'm talking at the cargo airports. then came mediocre, the rest I saw temp services help, the temps were not treated any better. I drove thru emplyoee parking lots and only saw a handful of really nice cars. To me this indicates that no blue collar workers really makes good money at these places. So get this fantasy better job nonsense of your head cause it doesn't happen.

Hey, don't go thinking they bring jobs for betterment of community, because planners don't think this way either. They only think of their pockets and how much they can fill them

Half the jobs in the humbolt are through temp agencies. Unemployment numbers in this area even with the industrial parks is higher than the national average, yet you don't think a cargo airport with what ever jobs it brings is good? Please get a grip!

I work for an out of state trucking company, I still agree with you, jobs are already lousy here in hazleton, but remember if the airport gets built they still will use temp service help for blue collar work. That means no benefits or stable hours. YOU get a grip.

Also, I just re-read my initial comment and I don't see anywhere in it that I say jobs are better in hazleton, I don't know where you've seen that. Even though these companies that come to hazleton with jobs and are able to pay good, they will always find ways to not pay good because they want to see a big profit margin

Well even if they are not outstanding jobs there will be more jobs to be had! Two reasons for the lower paying jobs there, is the cost of living in the area and lack of unions! Any jobs is a plus to me, also with the airport comes other businesses to support it.

I agree with you completely, unions, they should be proactive and really stand and represent the regular worker, like way back in the old days. They should fight for worker's rights and good pay. All these jobs have gone overseas and south for the cheap labor. No one can really live on minimum pay anymore, and that is all most of these companies want to offer along with no benefits.

UPS makes or breaks the deal, and they already dismissed this airport. A cargo airport, that UPS will not back, will not generate the jobs that Gladstone Partners claim. UPS has the largest airline in the world, and it is useless investment if you can't get them to operate a freight terminal at the proposed cargo airport. Gladstone will make money by getting the government to pay for the airport and then selling off it's physical assets when it goes belly up.
Remember how many area hustlers have been arrested or became confidential informants, that were involved with this white elephant. It's a group of NEPA and Pittsburgh hustlers, that cannot find Wall Street venture capitalists to invest in their scam.

I remember the story also, about toyota wanting to build an assembly plant in Valmont about 18 years ago, toyta actually showed interest. But those idiotss at can-do told them they couldn't because other companies would not be able to stay competitive when paying and giving benefits to employees. They feared they would lose their workers to toyota.
