Jobless claims point to steady labor market

There are 33 comments on the www.reuters.com story from Oct 4, 2012, titled Jobless claims point to steady labor market. In it, www.reuters.com reports that:

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose only slightly last week after a big drop the week before, a hopeful sign the job market is still on the mend.

Other data on Thursday showed a sharp drop in new orders for U.S. factory goods, although orders outside the transportation sector rose for a second straight month, which should calm fears of a rapid loss of momentum in factory activity.

Unemployment rate at 7.8%!!

Congrats President Obama on your successful reelection!!!!!!!!!!
I know that you know, the 7.8 is because of a shrinking of the workforce not anything that Obama did

Different politically appointed managers in place.
Using the same identical formula as used under the Shrub administration.

I know that you know that the only thing the general public will see is the 7.8% headline.

Face it, the sheeple are too stupid to look any further, which is why I am confident this seals the President's reelection.

No, I simply realize that the overwhelming majority of the sheeple will only hear the 7 part.

That's the reality.

You're right the average American will only see 7.8 percent in unemployment. How does a fictitious number help the US economy.

As we have been discussing the last couple of days there are still 3 more debates. that the jobs numbers are due to a shrinking workforce not an explosion of jobs. Creating left Johns in September then August semi: less jobs in August in July, and losing 300,000 plus jobs for each of those months, unemployment unemployment numbers- and you know it

Two. formulas.

* New jobs...call or reporting of organizations to count new hires.

* Jobless rate...Call 60,000 households and ask employment questions then use multipliers to reflect national estimate.

Actually a lot of the economy is psychological. If people think the economy is improving then they feel they can go out and buy stuff that they've been putting off buying. That ends up helping the economy improve by creating demand and thereby creating jobs.

It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The same thing happens when people feel we're going into a recession and stop spending.
