Not meant to offend? That's exactly what he meant or he wouldn't have made the comment. You'd think with all the practice Republicans have with lying they'd be better at it.

"Later Friday, Corbett issued a statement saying his "words were not intended to offend anyone" and apologizing if they did. His office said the interview was taped Monday"

Guess he wants us to believe that the Earth is flat too.

Just how stupid does the Gov think we are?

The simple fact he claims he didn't know such a remark would be offensive is the problem with the GOPasaurs pandering to their religious nutjob base.

I thought this was a really whacky way of defending the ban. It was a stupid, far fetched and crazy comparison.

Yet at the same time it highlights exactly why the ban is wrong because his only real defense is "well it's state law". In this day and age for a politician to be so out of touch that they can't see the same could be said about the laws that banned inter racial marriages is simply amazing.

IMO history will show that it was the Windsor decision that was the straw that broke the camels back on SSM being unconstitutional. And Prop 8 helped us remember that THERE IS NO STATE RIGHT to vote away a groups civil rights.

(see also West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette 1943

"The very purpose of a Bill of Rights was to withdraw certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, to place them beyond the reach of majorities and officials and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the courts. One's right to life, liberty, and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, and other fundamental rights may not be submitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections."

Silly .. The greatest civilization the world has ever known , Egypt (the Greeks just followed in their footsteps ) , practiced marriage between brother and sister as a matter of course for thousands of years . An asinine comparison if I ever heard one .. and he can't be thinking of the brotherhood of Man , for no such thing has ever existed .

No need to apologize to anyone for speaking the truth. The Gov. was spot on.

So, you are another one who can't tell the difference between unrelated adults and siblings?

That's creepy, but fortunately, not a problem for the majority of straight people. I don't know a single one who thinks that incest is similar to marrying a non-related consenting adult.

Good old Gov. Corbett knows that gay people go to the polls and vote, which is why he's making his phony apology.

The infallible Pope has spoken out on behalf of gays.
The Pope does not hate them.
The Pope does not hate women who seek abortion
The Pope said the Church should be more welcoming to all men and women.
I'm not Catholic, but this man is truly a man of God.
They cannot be said for the hate filled moon bat dickwads of the GOP.
Jesus was asked about the GOP. His response was, " Who are these people and why do they keep using my name ?"
Hatrid will destroy our American way of life, not liberalism.
