Separation of church and state is ment to keep the state (government) out of the church. Or any religion. Atheists do not have any more rights then a Christian to speak there minds or beliefs. Or put a cross in the yard.

Who gives a flying frisbee? Religion is not going away anytime soon, with or without such icons.
I don't approve of crosses on public land, but there are bigger religious fish to fry. For example, there is the abuse of the bible to justify greed and bigotry.

Its expected of the few who do this harping but the real problem with Christianity is for one thing the President appoints the most morally corrupted worldly wisdom minded to sit on the Supreme Court . The Supreme Justices are a joke to Christianity , much like the CivilLiberties Union was once (in the very beginning ) like the devil works deceived the people to be for the good of this nations THEY ARE SO EVIL. although wise in their own deceit ! using the minority to push for them , now THEY ARE A HOLY TERROR to Christianity ! So let us Christians pray unto God the Father to deliver this Nation , to let His wrath abide on the Supreme Court and American Civil Liberty Union and all such as who support sin/ corruption in this nation.

I may be wrong but I thought those white crosses where made by several churches (St Pauls being one of them) to represent babies lost to abortion? Does any one know if this is the case?

In '11 a thread called "white crosses" tried to address the meaning behind the white crosses displayed throughout Searcy. The previous thread as well as this one was hijacked. If you google "white cross campaign" or "white cross for abortion" you will find their are several causes that these crosses are a symbol of including the Red Cross. The organization asking the city to remove the cross has falsely assumed the cross only has one meaning. A simple google search shows the cross has various meanings. The debate should be about whether or not this organization has the right to dictate what the citizens if Searcy place or allow to remain on public property.

The separation if Church and State clause does apply to municipalities.
Oh yes it does. And the city of Searcy will lose all their federal funding/grants, etc. if they continue to play this stupid game.

We live under a Democratic system where the majority rules. Why is it that these important issues are never brought to a vote!
Al least then we'd rid ourselves of these trouble making, "ultra left wing" oddballs!

As part of our democratic system, people are free to protest. Sometimes, over time, they change the majority's mind, and sometimes not.

Sometimes the majority is too ignorant to make important decisions. That's why we elect representatives,, not as a rubber stamp, but in the hope that they will make the wisest decisions. Of course that doesn't aways work out.
If it were not for "ultra left wing oddballs", there would be no middle class, no social security, no Medicare, no child labor laws, no GI Bill, no food inspection, etc.

Social security is bound to run out, its a proven fact. Medicare is a big help in breaking us. Its not audited properly for fraud and such. Food inspection is allowing harmful GMO's, so they're irrelevant on trust. It's all about lobbying. Also in my opinion there was far more of middle class before the ultra left wing. Child labor laws aren't important here thanks to all the hand outs. Most of this generation doesn't even have an interest in work. The GI bill was co written and sponsored by Edith Rogers, a republican. So try again on that one also.

Putting religious symbols on public property is always ok with the people who follow that particular brand of religion.
Watch the Searcy City howl and cry when a Koran or Jewish symbol placed there beside their crosses.
