Seeing as how your ISP address is California, and not Snohomish, WA, we can tell that you are not really litesong, so that what you say is most likely true, even though your usual behavior is lying.

Recent research shows that Arctic sea ice is melting faster than expected. As the Earth continues to warm and Arctic sea ice melts, the influx of freshwater from the melting ice is making seawater at high latitudes less dense. In fact, data shows that the North Atlantic has become fresher over the past several decades. The less dense water will not be able to sink and circulate through the deep ocean as it does currently. This will disrupt or stop the Global Ocean Conveyor. Scientists estimate that, given the current rate of change, the Global Ocean Conveyor may slow or stop within the next few decades.

What is causing the melting? Global warming, of course. If this turns out to be the scenaero, then the warming is still not a good thing.

"This would not be the first time that the Global Ocean Conveyor was halted. There is evidence from sedimentary rocks and ice cores that it has shut down several times in the past and those shut downs have caused changes in climate. One of the most well-known, the Younger Dryas Event, happened about 12,700 years ago and caused temperatures to cool about 5 C in the region."

Hmmm... "not the first time". Another self-contradicting post.

Ok then what do we do. China gets 85% of its energy from burning coal, try to use nuclear now look at the pacific ocean its so polluted we will be seeing the efects from that for decades to come, and the gulf of mexico same scenario polluted the earth will win weather we like it or not but we wanted technology and cars and jets and ships and semis to deliver all the garbage us humans "need" to have a happy life. Seems like a downward spiral and we are out of control

I've long maintained that if fat Al and the warmers on here would merely halve their intake of burritos the crisis would be over.

Dumb, dumb, The gist of the article was that melting ice can cause the global ocean conveyor belt can be shutdown by less dense water from melting ice caused by global warming. So it slowed down or stopped before, so what does that have to do with global warming? Quit being so dense~!

The Al Gore hatred all started when Bush stole the election from him and proceeded to fumble the ball. Al Gore aside, the Earth is warming, CO2 is a greenhouse gas. CO2 traps discrete IR radiation in the atmosphere and increases the temperature of the Earth. Burning fossil fuels causes CO2 to increase in the atmosphere. Those are scientific facts. Deal with them. Bashing Al Gore will not change them.

We are currently in an ice age. The temperature now is below the norm, it is normally much warmer than now. All the previous ice ages ended, and there is no evidence to show the current ice age will not end.

Here is a graph (first on left side of page) that was made to deceive people into thinking the recent temperatures were stable and normal. Notice how the years are scaled differently? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geologic_tempera...

Here is a graph (first graph in center of page)that is scaled correctly. http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/Carbonifero...
