In calculating man hours, are you allowed to assume 12 hours per day worked?
Aust regulations allow this but I am not sure about OSHA.

If workers typcially work 12-hour shifts, then yes. It might be easier to estimate hours on a weekly or monthly basis instead. If you know how many full-time employees (FTE) you have, and they normally work a set number of hours per week, just multiply the number of workers with the number of hours per week and multiply that by 50 (the average number of weeks employees work per year).
Alternatively, if your full time workers average 40 hours per week, just multiply the number FTEs by 2000.
