In it, Estes Park Trail-Gazette reports that:The weather brought reports of wild activity this afternoon in Rocky Mountain National Park, as reports came in of a little girl being hit by lightning on the Ute Trailhead on Trail Ridge Road and a huge mudslide on Fern Lake Trail reportedly required rangers being sent into the area to help people leave.

So we were returning from Kayaking @ Grand Lake during this tremendous storm. At the top of Trailridge we see more than a dozen people hiking the trails that lead off Trailridge. I said to my husband, "those folks are not too bright, lightning seeks the highest point and in the alpine tundra these folks are candidates for lightning strikes" Sure enough here comes the Estes Ambulance. I cannot believe so many have so little common sense.....amazing.
