From the article...
"We're being responsible and looking at things for the next three years," she said.

Responsible? Those scam artists don't know the meaning of the word.

the foundation logic states by raising the fees they will get more people to see the Fake as heck History Channal endorsed mall they have created. Can't wait for them to sell "ice road trucker" gear cause we know thats REAL history. Maybe that will make up thier ever increaseing deficit.
Question which goes through money faster: The U.S. Goverment or the Gettysburg Foundation?
My votes for the Foundation. At least the goverment gets it's act together at least for 5 mins each year. The foundaiton has gone 0-...lost count on the years.

We used to give every time we visited, but with the high rates of admission we think that should be more than enough for a visit. We rarely go now. Pity too.

Its the typical mentality - build it for an enormous amount of money and they will come. If they don't come raise the prices on something "which was built with the understanding it would be a facility free to the public for the display of Civil War artifacts."

Who are they kidding - they raise prices and expect the decline is due to less money spent on advertising.

The reason that you have raised less is the economy has tanked everywhere. Local people don't have the extra money to visit and visitors from out of state are also on limited budgets. You were paying employees outrageous wages (the new president of the foundation is only making $200,000).

Gettysburg has its problems between the foundation and the school board. Good Luck.

Could not agree more with "Right". If the foundation would take the time to talk with the average person they would hear that its all about the money. Folks are struggling and its only going to get worse. Think about $3.79 a gallon and rising, do I need to say more?

How convenient that the current president's salary is not listed. Even though she was hired after the fiscal year ended, with all the pressure they are receiving to release their numbers, you add that on. Now the only thing people are going to focus on is her salary until it is also released.

Doesn't matter where you are in the town/county, if you are on a board, you don't know your a$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to fiscal responsibility and common sense.

A rule of thumb that I learned many years ago in business is that customers who have a positive experience share that experience with one or two friends and acquaintances. A customer who has a negative experience shares THAT experience with about 10 people. Bad news travels much faster,
and the Foundation is nothing but bad news for the visiting public.
No one should be surprised by this report.

I know what the problem is. It is those darned "heritage tourists" that Susan Star Paddock is always talking about. They must have already been staying away from Gettysburg because of the casino. Will they ever decide to return to Gettysburg? Only Saint Susan knows.

So, where's a link to these "financial reports?"

(And when you read them, take them with a whole box of salt, people.)

How can you draw a salary from a non profit that you are putting in the hole? well you tanked the school system, now the foundation. What else is neww as you Board members do not want to work for a living so you start a Foundation and rape the good people of Gettysburg. Who owns the fund raiser that was paid over 400k,I guess next you will have in Axe Men to do a logging competition and then you will be on the Crumbling of America because of your incompentence.

I just will never for the life of me understand all you whiners. You're like little children "But daddy promised me an ice cream cone!" Well guess what? Daddy got laid off in the meantime so you get nothing and you'll like it! A free museum was promised. It didn't work out financially. GET OVER IT! It's not like anyone who is here whining on this board was ever going to see it anyway...you were all hoping to be sitting at the new casino.

Gettysburg belongs to the world. It is a heritage destination for millions of people every year. The economic and financial realities of the world have changed completely since this new center was first envisioned. So now the fee to get in has changed. What is the point of the continued whining and crying about it? Deal with reality and move on already.

I have looked at the finacally records, which by the way are from 2009. I have one question, Robert Wilburn is listed as average hours of work per week as 1. Yet he earned $248,531.00 WOW that is some hourly rate. How do you justify this obsurd amount of money? COme on some from the Foundation please answer me

200,000 a year? I will not give one red cent! Less money comming in? We will just raise the rate! Did you brain surgeons ask the parking garage how that works? Now no one comes, how profittable is that?

That $103 MILLION Visitor Center ( U.S. Tax dollars (except for about $4 million) was initially budgeted at $9.7 Million--according to U.S GAO reports. Then came the politicians . Then these Foundations of PAID VOLUNTEERS and a Park Supt named Latschar all became quite wealthy. The 2010 Gettysburg Festival --funded by the Gettysburg Foundation DID shell out over $13 Million to VOLUNTEERS . I have the 2010 financial report that was never posted . That's how honest they were. In fact, i forwarded it to key musicians and entertainers who were stiffed for payments under contract. That way they can use it lawsuits for BREACH OF CONTRACT. What say you on that matter Ms. Estrada ? You actually believed you'd get away with the hiring of some unknown Symphony Orchestra Maestro as this years Musical Director ? A man who only taught elementary school music lessons. That ranks one- Huzzah ! Then we address the hidden salaries to protect the hierarchy of PAID Gettysburg College employees and professors who were most times in the "Festival" Bldg--then teaching or working in the College. I also have their names for posting. Oh please ! Stop the pathetic crying. This Foundation gave $13 million to this Festival--which was so poorly managed and
advertised, that the Bands couldn't find where to play. Was MISMANAGED to the point that a block party in Baltimore or Philadelphia would have been quite lucrative. Also for review and question is HOW CAN A FOUNDATION THAT WAS CREATED BY FEDERAL MONIES BUY $20 Million of MUNICIPAL BONDS ?
That's called MONEY LAUNDERING. Where's the Attorney General to investigate all this stuff ? Oh yeah--she's celebrating with her cousin --Tom Corbett at the Casino that just gave him $873,000 in PAC funds.

Please get your facts straight.$20 million came from state of PA,$10 million from feds. That is the ONLY "taxpayer" money involved. The rest was PRIVATELY RAISED. The first achievement of its kind, the first public/private partnership of its kind.

Now hold on a gosh-darned tootin' red minute here!!
We were told that former Supt. John Latschar was the ONLY qualified candidate to become President of the Gettyburg Foundation because of his skills & knowledge as a fundraiser and because of his great people skills. Now the Foundation tells us that they are no longer heavily-involved in the fundraising business model. So why were they so dadgum hot to hire him when his skills were not congruent to the business model to which they were moving?
Do they think we'uns all fergit these things?
Dagnabbit!!!
