Agreed. This administration seems determined to foment fear and inflict as much pain as possible on ordinary people. This is no way to govern.

Quote: "...bracing for deep budget cuts."

Do the NBC affiliates really not know the facts on this story? Do they even care to report the truth? Or are they just carrying the water for the White House?

These are not "deep budget cuts." Sequestration, which was President Obama's idea, would only force a very slightly smaller increase in federal spending next year. That's still an Increase in federal spending... Not a Cut! Our government already spends way more than they take in. My family has been forced to cut spending way back to keep afloat in this rotten economy. Why should the federal government be immune, especially considering they created this mess?

They aren't "TRYING" to scare you because they already "eliminated six seasonal jobs and has delayed hiring for 24 more."

All it takes is courage from the GOP to reinstate those lost positions and at the same time perhaps salvage their reputation as 'job killers'.

Let's say that the Fed spent $100,000 dollars last year. And due to the way that they baseline budget they were supposed to spend $120,000 this year. The only thing sequestration does is allows them to spend $117,000 this year.

The National Parks already had it in their budgets to keep the same employees it had last year plus they will be getting a small budget increase.

WE ARE NOT CUTTING SPENDING! WE ARE MERELY SLOWING DOWN THE BUDGET INCREASES!

But low information voters like Huck love to regurgitate the White House talking points to join in on the fear mongering.

"...but the park says visitors will see fewer services, and fewer safeguards."

At least now you can carry your own personal safeguard into the Park....concealed of course.

Well Huck....Your referenced website is NOT from the U.S. Government, but from a left wing crackpot blogger named Christopher Chantrill. A simple google search of his name will show that his "manifesto" is simply the overthrow of the capitalistic society. His "figures" are footnoted as "GUESSTIMATES".....o r as we who are from down south call "SWAG" (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess). He is reported to also have provided SWAG figures for the climate change debate.

Next time......try a "real" or at least reputable reference when trying to dispute a valid argument.

Why not charge more to enter all national parks? Or charge non US citizens 5 times more to get into our beautiful parks like many of the African countries do?

I'ain't one for the gubment getting its fingers in the middle of projects like this but thank goodness they kicked the red necks off of the park. The farmers had deforested the entire area for farming and made a living off of white lightnin. Now if we can clean up Afton we'll have it made.
