Charles is right to his opinions, but how will one measure what is called a secure border and does a secure border equal no more illegal workers I don't think so, the best tool that is available and most effective to enforcement can be done internally by making it very hard for employers to use illegal labor and make it impossible for future illegal immigrants to find employment. then and only then we would be able to controle illegal entry into this country, people come here to work and if they could find it they would keep coming no matter what.

all talks should stop on this until 100% enforcement is complete, doing it any other way is a complete fail,we have already see talk is cheap actions first. heck they have refused to use the laws already on the books so it shows all none who ius wanting to give shamnesty has any thought of enforcement of any kind.

if the border is not fixed now million more will keep coming and then we will be hearing them talk once again. without actions on what we already have in place it is all a waste.

We already know what will happen. 11 million illegal aliens will gain legal status with virtually no background checks. This will happen because the federal government cannot deal with 11 to 20 million extra immigration cases that require background checks, case workers, investigators, enforcement personnel, and support staff that will be needed verify the background of people that in many cases have no real I.D. and in most cases have used stolen or false I.D. their entire lives. To do this right will require hiring and training of tens of thousands of people and opening thousands of facilities nation wide. Not to mention an investigative staff to oversee the workers to make sure they are not being corrupted by those criminals who will not qualify for amnesty. Those that have criminal records have had years of experience and connections that will allow them to hide their past. With the help of a corrupt government employee they could easily get papers for those who should not get them.
Those pushing for amnesty have made it clear that they will block all efforts to allow full vetting of applicants. These are the same people that have been fighting voter I.D., immigration checks when a person is arrested and e-verify. Do you think that they will support full background investigations both in the U.S. and the applicant’s home country?
I can hear it now “Let’s pass the law then we can figure out what is in it.”

Agreed, I have been across the border many times and have to say that it is a very scary ordeal(especially for a 6'4" white guy that sticks out like a sore thumb) I am all for fixing the broken immigration system and think the border should be secure.

Fix the border. How do we do that again?
4000 miles of double walled electrofied 20 ft high brick and mortar fence? don't you think a dome over the US would be more effective?
I like gaurd towers.
Place 30 foot high guard towers along the border. Place them every 500 yards down the whole border. Put 10 man armed crews in each tower. That's 100% seal right there. Hold everyone who tries to cross. When ther is enough to fill a C130, load them in the plane, strap a chute to them, fly 500 miles into mexico and kick em out. That should work perfect. There is no way a plan that good could ever fial to get passed. Cost should only be a few hundred billion a year, but it's better them letting poor people have welfare.
That's a great plan. I'm gonna sent it to Newt with a cash incentive package, he'll get it passed in a matter of weeks.
Wow I'm really proud of myself that is a great way to seal the border, I'm a friggin genious.

One part has been omitted in this great plan and that is, who in the course of history had the capacity of doing such a thing to other human beings.

We have to end birthright citizenship and end free health care and free k-12 for illegals. With all we give them, they're gonna keep coming.

Deport every illegal alien that is encountered. Besides if they can't work, get welfare and don't eat they will go home. Problem solved.

Isn't it funny how we can seal borders all over the world but when it comes to our own border we are clueless? Actually, it really isn't funny, unless you approve of weakening our countries security and economy for political gain.

Trying to interfere with those who employ illegals will not work. There are entirely too many of them working "off the books", and for cash. And the expense of dealing with this problem should not be added to employers who do not hire illegals. The simplest, and best, approach is to deny illegals entry. Once this is achieved the problem is basically over. Then the residual illegals within the U.S. can begin registration and the subsequent disposition of their individual cases can be finalized. No citizenship guaranteed - under any circumstances.

I've always believed the U.S. Border is rigid on purpose. Too many times in the history of this Country, we've had Laws on the book that clearly State what the Law is. And time and time again, employer's have transported entire Family's through those rigid border's for cheap labor. Krauthammer is a Republican. He's always talked about people who have money and how they get it. For him to act like he unknowingly think's we didn't do anything right in 86 amnesty is amazing. He support's big money. Big money needs and want's cheap labor. Same with many political anylists on the far right.Charles is right that now it has to be done right is correct. But the greedy Employer's that don't give a shit about regular Americans being overwhelmed by this crap need to be punished finally for allowing America to go down the crapper for money. Now they have seen what this invasion has done to actually hurt the economy by lowering wages and the standard of living for everyone, not to mention the criminal element invading every town and city in the Nation. Crime is literally ruining the lives of Legal Americans.

They are never going to shut down the southern border. They have been saying they would do so for over 30 years. It's cheap labor for the corporations. What jobs the corporations can't send to China for cheap labor they want to be able to import cheap labor from Mexico. the reality is the Mexicans are now a bigger population than the blacks are so now both parties want to do an amnesty in order to secure the Hispanic vote. The politicians could care less that Hispanics have twice the high school drop out rate of blacks and 4 times the high school drop out rate of white students and they could care less that 50 percent of Hispanic women are now having kids out of wedlock to get on welfare. All the politicans care about is the numbers - that the Mexicans pushed Obama over the top in votes and got him reelected. Who the hell is going to pay for the majority of the country to be on welfare? No one. Who cares? NO one. This is two finished political parties who have the U.S. at financial collapse desperately trying to stay in power while the nation collapses. An amnesty with 16 trillion of debt, 120 trillion of unfunded liabilities in social security and medicare,$1 trillion a year spent more than collected in taxes every single year, no end in sight to any of it,$5 trillion in unfunded pension promises to government employees, cites and states going bankrupt over it, and now a majority of Hispanics on welfare along with 80 percent of blacks having kids out of wedlock, yahoo. Does anyone actually think any of this crap is not going to collapse soon? Who is supposedly going to be working and paying for half the Fking population to have kids out of wedlock and go onto welfare? Folks the 80 million baby boomers are old and they are retiring and going on the government themselves and they have carried welfare and every other spending program in this country for the last 40 years. The party is over, welfare is going to collapse from the Mexicans piling onto it, the entitlements are at collapse, so is the dollar and so are U.S. bonds. If I could leave the U.S. today I would. All there is left is to watch the collapse and the politicans know it and this is a last desperate attempt by them to keep themselves in power.

We cannot use the military in that kind of role here inthe homeland.
We don't need soldiers roaming the streets of America like they roam the Streets of Afganistan.
The border is not a war zone.
