A question kinda popped into my mind, if he has the power to send National Guard then why all this yelling over .....?.... over how many years? Why hasn't he done it a long time ago? I thought the Republicans in Texas hated Federal Government being involved in their lives and state? Remember even talking about seceding from America in 2012? And all this time Governor Perry could have solved Texas' problem years ago but didn't?

Well, Jenny... it is Federal Law governing immigration, so Perry having respect for Federal Law "all these years" is only that... a show of respect for due process. Since the Federal government has actually stated under Obama and Holder they will not sustain Federal Law and have actually violated Federal Law for all to see, the resultant human crisis in Texas has taken on other parameters. It is now a crisis allowing the Governor to intervene with National Guard troops, which are under his direct command.

Texas showing respect for Federal Government? Since when? I kinda remember them even wanting secession from America in 2012.

Perry is grandstanding since the elections are coming up. It's only more Republican anti-Obama stuff.

Responding to the outrageous violations of Federal Law by Obama and Holder is not "grandstanding." It is protecting Texas from the illegal onslaught of foreign citizens into Texas actually promoted by Obama and the Marxist Democrats. Obama creates the anti-Obama "stuff"; he needs no help.

It's now been explained to you. If you want to go on protecting an obvious criminal in many different arenas, have at it.

Btw, It's against the law for National Guard to make arrests. The Texas general in charge of the Guard confirmed they cannot physically detain or send any immigrants back across the border.

Troops coming back from the war are going to love you Republicans for sending them right back into a desert again. Even if they can't do anything but stand there doing nothing.

Why? Because I disagree with your emotionalism?

Why hasn't Perry already done this years ago?

What is the guard going to do once they are there? If they see illegals they don't even have the power to send back across the border much less arrest them.

Those are facts. Not Republican and Tea Party empty rhetoric.

Not a Republican, but a registered Democrat all my life... as if that had anything to do with reason and right.

After all the irrational, anti-military sliming people like Obama and Obama himself have done over the decades and especially against the military's efforts in response to 9/11, trying to turn the lot of them into queers and steers, the next stage of your bullshit will accuse them of raping the illegals, like your falsified pictures and claims you published so shortly after our invasion of Iraq, which you bastards have handed back to those massacring Christians.

You must get your news from the ever popular MSNBC(LOL). In the case of an emergency a Gov. can grant arrest powers to the guard. The border is an emergency and a national security crisis. But you wouldn't know that from the fundraiser n chief.

While Posse Comitatus does not specifically apply to the National Guard, their regulations stipulate its troops .... unless authorized by the US Congress ..... are not to take part in typical law enforcement actions including arrests, searches of suspects, or evidence handling.

That's why the soldiers (7,200 of them) that were there on the border in 2010 couldn't do anything but provide surveillance and reconnaissance support. Yes, troops have been sent there before.

Governor Perry sends The National Guard, Obama takes 15 million of our tax dollars, and gives it too Mexico....CSPAN this morning.... yup give them more of our money, like we're not being bled to death. Obama is dysfunction extrordinaire.... When real Men and decent leaders put America first and the Chicago's goons, Obama and Holder do the exact opposite, we're super screwed. Where in the world did this idiot get to this position....America wanted to prove to the World, that we weren'racist, elected this goon and now he's getting back at all Americans he percieved to have wronged minority's... And he did it....screwed America as best he could. He needs to be gone gone gone.

It looks like she answered the question in #8 and 13.

When asked today what he expected the NG to do when they reach the border and was reminded that the NG cannot arrest or detain anyone crossing the border, Rick Perry said, uh uh uh ... It's a show of force.

Time for all that to change.
It's no secret border states are being overrun by illegals. It's been a serious and growing problem for 20 + years. Or that millions of tons of drugs have been brought in by illegals and not just pot, but heroin, meth, coke and the other bad shit that destroys peoples lives. Everybody realizes that illegals are Not screened for disease or a criminal background or have any real means of supporting themselves.
They leave tons of trash as they illegally enter. They have destroyed Organ Pipe National Monument, which about 50% is closed to the public because of the border violence. They live illegal, they drive illegal and work illegal as well, draining city and state resources because of it. Then there's the toll it's taken on those lives who end up victims because of them.
Combine all that with the corrupt government we have today and the direction it's heading your going to find Americans, who are expected and forced to follow the rules, to start reacting against those who don't. It's already starting to happen.
It pisses people off when those that don't , get put ahead of those that do.
