There are 26 comments on the New Media Journal story from Oct 5, 2012, titled Diversity Training Included Chant Calling Forefathers 'Illegal Immigrants'. In it, New Media Journal reports that:

The US government paid a Chicago consultant hundreds of thousands of dollars to put on diversity training workshops that, according to one watchdog, included an exercise in which employees were told to chant "our forefathers were illegal immigrants." When Browns cross the border, it's called illegal immigration.

When Colonials cross the border, it's called Manifest Destiny.

I'll give you a mini-history of the United States in two minutes. Okay?

The United States started out as a colony, everybody knows this. The people who came here to settle, they were from Europe. This is settler colonialism.

For Native people the results were catastrophic. What happened to their land? Well, the settlers bought some of it, or simply killed them so that they could take it, or forcibly drove them off their land - I don't need to tell you this, I know you've studied this yourself.

The information is there for anybody who wants to know and who has the stomach to read it.

The bottom line is that there was a tremendous amount of lands illegally seized from Native people. And the occupation of these lands taken by settlers - or immigrants if you prefer - continues to this day. Much of what is commonly referred to as the United States is in fact an illegal occupation of Native lands. In other words, America is filled with illegal immigrants, and we're not even talking about Mexicans.

Now these settlers, in the process of destroying or displacing the hundreds of native nations that filled North America, they created a new country, the United States of America, right?

Well two hundred plus years later the United States is the most powerful country in the world and the settlers who built this country are now established, they've created positions of privilege for themselves, and they exercise some of this privilege by labeling some of the more recent immigrants 'illegal'.

You know, we act like the laws that sort immigrants into legal- or illegal-types dropped out of the sky directly from god. Of course not, laws are made and enforced by the dominant group in a society, generally to benefit... themselves!

Just like how you can put millions of black people in jail by creating a 'War on Drugs' or terrorize entire nations by inventing a so-called 'War on Terror', you can attack people by making them 'illegal'. You demonize them, you attribute every social ill you can think of to their presence.

And what I'm saying is that this is hypocritical because in the case of the United States, the dominant settler group who's acting all bent out of shape over what to do with all these illegal immigrants, they have yet to acknowledge their own status as settlers, their own status as illegal immigrants.

The most typical response I get to my above comment is that there were no immigration laws at the time so it was OK for Europeans to slaughter & steal first Nation land.

It goes to show you the level of arrogance fueled by ignorance by many of the anti-illegal crowd.

Exactly. It's as if laws only count if the typical "American" makes them.

Technically there wasn't but I'm sure the Native Americans had their own law regarding invaders that of which we thoroughly broke.

The least Americans could do is acknowledge it.

That's how this nation is. Laws are generally made to benefit the majority ruling group in the society. Therefore it's easy for them to make laws that make those they don't want in the USA... illegal.

Prior to 1776 all the way up to the 1907's, Latin Americans entered the USA with little or no restrictions. The US immigration Act of 1907: Reorganized the states bordering Mexico (Arizona, New Mexico and a large part of Texas) into Mexican Border District to stem the flow of immigrants into the United States. Notice they were not called illegal immigrants during that era?

I was not until the 1968 Act which eliminated US immigration discrimination based on race, place of birth, sex and residence. It also officially abolished restrictions on Oriental US immigration.

When this happened, that's when the majority ruling group started out with terms like illegal aliens.

I crafted some info awhile back about the Wampanoag Indian Nation, the very first Indians that the Pilgrims from the Mayflower interacted with.

Now for starters the Pilgrims squatted on the Wampanoag Nation that held a region from Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island & Massachusetts which were the surrounding areas of Plymouth Rock.

This Nation was organized like a confederation, with a political leader who presided over other Sachems. They had their own rules and way of life. Considering that the Wampanoags had met fierce opposition from surrounding Indian tribes it's rather obvious they had borders and enforcement. I'm sure had the Wampanoag Nation known the intention of the illegally occupying Pilgrims and colonist they would have kicks their AZZES back into the Atlantic ocean with haste.

Trying to justify the beginning of an era of continuous genocide of Native American Indians who had their own culture, language, and political structure by trying to downplay the sovereignty of the Wampanoag Nations is complete White Nationalist BULLSH*T not to mention outright revisionist history.

The Wampanoag Nation had borders, European squatters illegally settled on their sovereign Nation and as of today America has yet to acknowledge their own status as illegal immigrants occupying Native American land.

The western Ideological kool-aid drinking rhetoric that NA Indians held no sovereignty and/or immigration laws as rather funny and completely ignorant to the highest degree as regardless of what the Wampanoag Nation had at the time it was really irrelevant to the Pilgrims and their decedents becuase the early settler colonist had one intention & that was to steal, genocide, and call the new land their own. Keep in mind, those who came to the Americas were heretics, outcast, criminals, opportunist and explorers.

who knows.

one thing for sure here in the USA, diversity has changed into catering and the melting pot no longer melts folks together into one as it was meant to be here. failure to assimilate as well as not expecting folks to do so is causing a segregated society.

When are these parasites going to realize that they don't belong here. What our fore fathers did was take land from people who really didn't know what to do with it and the rest is history. Illegals need to understand one thing that no matter how much anchor babies teach them about American history it really dosent matter this is still a nation of laws and they will be enforced.

were still a nation of laws no matter what our past is and your just mad because you want your people legalized in a nation they don't belong in. Americans know thier past and they are compassionate towards other people and welcome legal immigrants. But legalizing 25 million invaders is madness. The settlers were victims of thier time but these people are just shameless and lawless.
