Is a bipartisan immigration deal at hand? It's close. Last week, the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce worked out a guest-worker compromise that allows in foreign workers on a sliding scale of 20,000 to 200,000, depending on the strength of the economy.

before any talks at all on this we need to enforce all laws on the books. using those laws would start the clean up process, giving no time for excuses as to the why illegal aliens are here.

yet we can all see the dems do not want enforcement could care less about the country,if they did they would never take up for invaders.

best way ,punishment and never a reward, sending their homelends the bill,no pay do a trade embargo like with cuba,or no dealing with them at all.

The Republicans and the American Chamber of Commerce are the ones who fought to have 400,000 additional "guest workers" visas granted under this proposed bill. The Democrats and the AFL-CIO wanted no new visas.

Democrats may not care too much about the illegals living here now, but at least they don't actively try to get more into the country.

"It's the time stew pid".Immigration Reform is a very important social and economic issue that has been delayed and should've been done more than 20 years ago. Border enforcement is already included in the prospective bill, but those so-called "border enforcement triggers" are just the GOP's poison pill to delay the legalization forever and no-body compromised with a real and broad Immigration reform can accept that, because they always are going to come up for new excuses like needing "a moat with crocodiles in it" or something like that and it's going to take about 20 years or more for people to get legalized and ain't nobody got time for that...

What part of the government is AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce? Are they the Senate or the House?

They pay off both house. When unions and employers are on the same side obviously the workers are going to get screwed.Hard to believe that people are foolish enough to actually pay dues to people who are keeping their wages low.

with trade union having high #s on their out of work lists it sure does show they are not for their members. adding more to the rolls will help no worker.
