I think people are realizing even with the advance prep and planning well in advance of this storm, as in katrina, logistics of aftermath implementation can only go so fast no matter the resources. Bush was slammed because he didn't fix it all in 2 days and obama is facing the same criticism. The next prez and the next storm or event and the scenario will repeat again. Maybe someday when people are told to get out of the storm path they will, but the ones screaming are the ones that stayed and now are the quickest impacted. The ones that left, stayed out of the area are in relatives homes, motels away from the storm area with power, food and fuel while the fools that stayed live with the expected aftermath.

Tony Perkins and Ralph Reed decided they were in love with each other and asked Pat Robertson to marry them. All 3 said they're getting out of the talking snake circus act.

I would have to agree - saying FEMA is inefficient is kind of like saying the sky is blue - grass is green etc. Ugh...Ya.

The key is definitely to get out when you hear the word evacuation. So many times people think the forecasters are crying wolf because they left during a storm and it turned out to not be that bad. The next one the decide to stay and they get dismantled as a result. You just can't take the chance. I DO NOT by the hollow excuse you hear that people had no way to get out - that is a big bunch of nonsense. There is a way to get out if you want to but you have to actually make some effort yourself.

There are things that I don't understand - I cannot understand how fuel availability is always a problem - this is a known issue that has been a serious problem as long as I can remember and still no one can come up with a solution. When a hurricane threatened the Houston area and actually ended up hitting Galveston about 45 miles south there was mass chaos as people tried to evacuate. The freeways were stop and go gridlocked all the way out as far as 120 miles from Houston. One of the biggest problems - all the stations ran out of fuel and cars ran out of gas right on the interstate and blocked the lanes. If that storm would have been any stronger and came up through the Houston ship channel there would have been hundreds and hundreds who would have died righ on the highway.

The other thing that made it even worse for Bush were that there were two genuine idiots in office during Katrina in Louisiana. Kathleen Blanco was the governor and did not have the ability to make the most simple decisions succcessfully - and good old Ray Ray who was the mayor of New Orleans - he was simply about self promotion during the entire event - when the attention left so did he. Good riddens to both.

You have to leave when they order comes - it is beyond me after everyone watched what happened with Katrina that people still don't evacuate. When a storm like this hits you are literally on your own.
