I'm one of the affected Shandaken property owners. My residential property was severely damaged by Hurricane Irene flooding, and, under the Town's FEMA-mandated flood plain zoning, I can't repair it unless I substantially elevate the existing structure and any future construction, which is practically impossible. I still pay taxes and insurance on a property I can't occupy or use, so I'd welcome a buyout.
