Romney Avoids FEMA Questions

Full story: The Wall Street Journal

Mitt Romney 's campaign said he wouldn't do away with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, but it's unclear how a President Romney might overhaul disaster relief programs - a topic that was revived in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Most Americans have never heard of the National Response Coordination Center, but they’re lucky it exists on days of lethal winds and flood tides.
The center is the war room of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, where officials gather to decide where rescuers should go, where drinking water should be shipped, and how to assist hospitals that have to evacuate.
...Does Mr. Romney really believe that financially strapped states would do a better job than a properly functioning federal agency? Who would make decisions about where to send federal aid? Or perhaps there would be no federal aid, and every state would bear the burden of billions of dollars in damages.
After Mr. Romney’s 2011 remarks recirculated on Monday, his nervous campaign announced that he does not want to abolish FEMA, though he still believes states should be in charge of emergency management. Those in Hurricane Sandy’s path are fortunate that, for now, that ideology has not replaced sound policy. " NYT
A BIG STORM REQUIRES MONEY... LOTS OF IT. UNFORTUNATELY OUR IMMATURE, TEENAGE PRESIDENT ALREADY SPENT TRILLIONS BUYING VOTES AND PROMISING MORE FREE SH*T TO HIS BASE: LOSERS, WASTOIDS AND LEECHES!

We all now wish we had back the hundreds of billions Obama wasted on his phony stimulus. But we don't! It's gone and the Amazing Shrinking President is to blame.

As for your pathetic attempt to make an argument I say "fooey". No conservative have ever been against using government for the common defense, either due to a foreign enemy or Mother Nature. Your whole post is ridiculous, childish BS. You obviously flunked logic 101, but Propaganda 311 you've mastered. You lie like Obama.

Yes, rumor is Paul Ryan was in NJ emptying sand bags so he could refill them halfway for a photo op. He flashed his P90X biceps and that dorky grin and left.
You neglected to mention that Ryan saw a mound of ants and ate them for dinner.

There will be a need for hundreds of billions of dollars for repair of damaged and destroyed infrastructure. None of the states will be able to afford it by themselves, especially not New jersey.

Pity is that nowadays government spending on infrastructure has been defined by the Republican Party as socialism, or worse yet, communism.
Reason being that those billions of federal dollars, from the standpoint of the Republicans,
actually, have to be turned over to the rich and
super rich in the form of huge tax breaks so they
can create jobs (haha).

So, nothing can be done about it. We end up with third-world infrastructure and a class of filthy rich who contribute nothing to the health and wealth of the nation.

Thanks GOP.

Obama is finally doing a half-ass job in the last week of his sorry presidency. that doesn't make him any less of a failure. he was still dead asleep on 9/11, the middle-east is on fire, we are flat broke and the economy is stalled. he's an inexperienced amateur with NO accomplishments - none. he was elected for being black, which is "racism-lite", nothing more.
you're so lame I can't even be bothered to use the "shift" key in my reply. did I say 'eat sh*t'? if not, it bears repeating when replying to a classically stupid LW post. you're a f*cking idiot.
I can tell you're "shiftless". You also suffer from verbal vomit, a fairly common right wing condition. I'm sure you have always been a piece of human waste. Now you have spread the word.

On a personal note, bend over. Your customers are getting impatient.

The source of the modern debt: Ronnie Bongo Alzheimer's Reagan who turned the USA from the world's largest creditor into the world's largest debtor.

The source of the deficit: Bush's 2 wars, Great Recession and tax cuts for the rich on the nation's credit card.

That's it. PERIOD.

Bush: losing 850,000 jobs a month. Shrinking the economy by 9% a year.

Obama: ended Bush's Great Recession 13 quarters ago. Making jobs for 30 months.

FOUR YEARS AGO:

stock market crashing
Bush losing millions of jobs
Lehman belly up, AIG requires $185 BILLION to stay afloat
TARP hysteria
mortgage and housing bubble imploding

TODAY:

Not

The liberal spin machine goes into overdrive to make Obama the Hero of Sandyville, trying to pretend he hasn't been the worst President in history. The press should be ashamed for carrying his water like little wimpy azholes.

"As has been shown time after time – especially as tornadoes and hurricanes rip through politically conservative states – even the sturdiest tea party supporters become fans of government when it's doling out money to storm victims for motel rooms and other temporary housing or helping with house repairs.

That role fell Tuesday to New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie, who was effusive in his praise for Obama and the federal government's initial response.

"The president has been outstanding in this and so have the folks at FEMA," Christie said on NBC's "Today." - AT

There are no libertarians in disaster zones.

Where the ****ing hell are all the libertarians in disaster zones? Where are all the Teabagging Republsicum openly and vehemently refusing government aid?

Where are all the private corporations offering up products and services for a profit to people who lost everything? Where are they?

Where is the ****ing free market in the wake of Sandy? Why isn't Trump opening up his casinos to house the homeless and feed the foodless for a profit?
