I'm not sure how making an ACT like DOMA using this mentality:
When debating the law in 1996,Congress called homosexuality "immoral, depraved, unnatural, and based on perversion." DOMA was heralded as a way to encourage "responsible procreation and child-rearing and to defend traditional, heterosexual marriage and traditional notions of morality." COULD EVER MAKE SOMEONE WHO IS STRAIGHT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROPER PROCREATION AND DEFEND TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE!!!

Republicans need to concentrate on the economy and not social issues and stop wasting our tax dollars on making and defending anti-gay legislation.

Unfortunately until the Dems take back control of the Congress with a majority strong enough to repeal DOMA, we actually NEED the cases to be defended. Otherwise we have no chance of getting DOMA overturned by the SCOTUS and every person will have to sue individually to get their equal rights.

Current predictions by all of teh major polling firms indicate that not only will the Dems NOT regain a majority in the House, but that they will also probably LOSE their majority in the Senate.

Americans prefer divided government.

All the more reason to ensure these cases are defended by someone. My only complaint is that my tax dollars are paying for it. I'd rather the courts let individual anti-gays have standing to defend it on their own dime.
