Actually, those rights were NOT voted on. Freedom of speech is part of the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.
Rev. Sharpton's right to vote was part of the 15th Amendment. My right to vote is in the 20th Amendment.
I am sure that if these were put to a popular vote at the time ALL of them would have been voted down.
