The time has finally come for you killer Lester Bower. Tthey should put a gun to your head just like you did the men at the Tate Ranch East of Sherman. I know they had to have been begging for their lives. the men just kept coming to the hanger didn"t they? Why did you have to shoot each one to the head? yOU COWARD. I will never forgive you and I know you will go to hell.

Executing Bower will be executing an innocent man. That is murder just like the murder of the 4 victims in October 1984. Even if you believe in the "eye for an eye" system, Bower didn't commit the murders. There is proof of who did. The courts would not allow it in because in federal court "innocence is not an issue" ---only technicalities of the law.(check with lawyers or lawbooks) Mrs. Bates lost a brother and is tortured by grief, but killing an innocent man won't help.

I have to admit, watching, learning more on the internet, i am appalled by the heartless comments i have seen in the past not just on Les Bower, as far as im concerned, everyone should have a fair trial, no matter crime or what. Just sit back and think what is if it was you. As one person per family in usa has been affected by the lowsy justice system one way or another. Never Judge anyone unless you really know the facts. As one day everyone could be judging you. Just something to think about. I am not for the death penalty and not really against, however what i do believe in that everyone has a right to a fair trial, with competent lawyers, yet not many of them left these days its all about money

What frightens me most about Les Bower's situation is that the evidentiary hearing requested years ago never materialized. Someone confessed to the murders (to friends) and for whatever reason, the judicial system has not allowed this information to be brought forward on Les' behalf. PAY ATTENTION!! This could be YOU or ME one day. May the Good Lord be with Les and his family and if he is TRULY innocent, may the perpetrators be brought to justice before this injustice is carried through. My prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones so many years ago. I pray that you find peace and are SURE in your heart that the guilty receive justice.

Mr. Bower is not guilty. Even if he was, would killing him really make anyone feel better. If Les is executed on the 22nd of July, I know he will go the way he wanted to: with great dignity. He is a respectable man. My prayers are with him.

check the fort worth star telegram story
DNA test clears Texas man after death.
Browers prosecutors also oppose a defense motion to have saliva, hair fibers and cigarette butts from the crime scene tested for DNA.
What are they afraid of? Knowing Grayson county's sheriff department and police I have a good ideal.
I alway found it real hard to believe one man shot all of the victims execution-style and only one ran?
Do the right thing and check the evidence

Here's a question for those that continue to spew venom towards the accused and refuse to look at all the evidence - including the Grayson County prosecutor:

Put all your emotions aside, just long enough to ask yourself - "What if Mr. Bower really is innocent?"

Then he gets executed and the actual murderers - and it's been reported that there are witnesses that know exactly who they are - are free - laughing in your face - and ANOTHER inncocent man is dead.

Is that the kind of justice you want??

I've followed this case. The GC prosecutor says there's tons of "circumstantial" evidence that all points directly at Bower. Circumstantial! Hello!

In actuality, there's NO evidence at all that says that Bower committed these crimes - even beyond a reasonable doubt. Not even a weapon, prints, anything - he had the aircraft, but he's stated all along that be bought it - and the prosecutors whole case is based on theft!!

Yes, he lied to the FBI - but as has already been stated - b/c he freaked out at what he'd apparently barely missed. Bonehead mistake no doubt - but THAT doesn't make him a murderer!?!

And even as Bower stated, fine - if you don't want to believe him, don't. But what about the witnesses who PERSONALLY knew the murderers and were also told by the murderers themselves of what they'd actually done that night.

I agree with others, that your loss is lamentable - we feel for you. But your rage prevents you from seeing the truth - and soon (if this is not rectified)- another innocent man will join your loved ones.

I just got an email that Les Bower has been granted a stay and that there will be a hearing on July 17 regarding DNA testing. This thing needs to be completely reopened b/c it appears that Bower did not do this crime.

I hope that this will be a first step to get him out of jail. It's been way too long and its time Les gets out.

T-Nip...did you happen to miss the part where the victims blood was on the aircraft parts found in bowers possession? this is just another way to waste more taxpayers dollars and extend the suffering the victims family have had to go thru. There is no new evidence at this time nor has there been since 1989.

I believe you are mistaken....there were FINGERPRINTS, not blood! Big Difference, there annoyed!
Of course there are fingerprints, Les BOUGHT the ultralight!
IF you really had followed this case, as I have, I believe you wouldn't have posted this lie! I attended his trial and his hearing in 2000. NOT ONCE was ANYTHING mentioned about "blood on parts of ultralight"....by the way, do you work for Grayson Co. DA office? You sure sound like you've been fed the lies!

Thanks Anonymous for stating this. Annoyed, I did not miss this "part" as Anon has already stated this "part" is no where to be found. Instead of being annoyed, be interested in the truth.

And as far as no new evidence since 1989 ... again, b/c of the laws at the time in the state of Texas you would not know about the multitude of DIRECT evidence that identifies the 4 actual murderers - none of which are Les Bower. Both one of the girlfriends and one of the wives of the murderers were told directly by the murderers themselves what they did that night. It's all in the case files.

The reason it's never come out before is b/c Texas HAD a longstanding rule that no new evidence claiming innocence could be brought before the court after 30 days following a conviction. These women, in fear for their lives, and not knowing state statute, did not come forward until it was too late. But their consciences weighed on them and they came forward. So, it's been part of the new evidence - that you claim there is none of - for almost 2 decades!!

This part of the law has recently been repealed, and the Judge in Grayson county has correctly issued a stay on the execution to look at this evidence.

Why are you so annoyed with all this. Mr. Bower is an innocent man. Even if you don't believe that NOW, just ask yourself the question, "What if he really is?" Doesn't that mean anything to you? If there are in fact 4 murderers out there - and Les isn't one of them - wouldn't you want to know that. As Anon has implied, don't be misled.

Anon, I've been to Ledbetter many times - and you stated you've been to the trials. Care to share who you are??

Regards to all who seek the truth - and recognize that our faithful government DOES make mistakes.

I'm actually from Eastern Grayson County, not
from Ledbetter;I'm not sure why that shows up in my name/location.

Anyway (T-Nip) thanks for following the case enough to know what is going on, and for letting others know. Yes, our government does make mistakes and this case is one of them. The local government is so afraid that this will be mud on their faces, that they don't want the truth to come out. They have made so many comments about not wanting the DNA testing performed and not wanting this evidence brought out. It does make me really wonder what lies they have been fed reguarding this. IF they are SO CERTAIN they have the right man, then they wouldn't mind letting this new evidence and testing take place. I think they know in their hearts that there is more to this case; but if proven, it would be mud in their faces! I would hope no one would want to chance executing an innocent man and would agree that ALL new evidence which has come forward since the trial/conviction of Lester needs to be investigated and that Lester would have an opportunity to have a fair trial. There are many of us in Grayson County who believe this trial was a set-up and the actions of the DA scrambling and not wanting this to be investigated shows that they are afraid the set-up will be found out.
I am proud that Judge Fallon did the right thing by allowing this hearing. I hope that he will continue to follow his heart in this hearing and allow the testing and evidence to be investigated. I also hope that the DA's office is being CLOSELY monitored at this time. They have commented that "the evidence isn't under lock-n-key,and it could have been tampered with or substituted" I worry that they might be the ones who did the tampering and substituting, in hopes that they can alter the possible future tests. There comments are very bothersome.

Thanks Anon. Was in your neck of the woods today - went to the hearing. Heard all the evidence again afresh. There was in fact NO human blood, it was animal blood - and Les was an avid hunter.

Re: your comments on the evidence - DA's office actually stated that all the evidence that was originally there is now NOT there. She passed the buck to the sheriff's office - but that news is disconcerting at best and alarming at worst.

There was a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo back and forth - but the state was clearly trying to use the "letter" of the law to avoid the "spirit" of the law. Judge Fallon did call her on several points several times - but who knows where it will lead.

She continued to badger the defense attorney's on legalities, but then herself thru out endless doubletalk and actually got caught in a couple "misstatements".

What a mess!

What amazes me is that all these laws that no one can understand, that continue to be re-written and changed, are there supposedly to ensure that justice is carried out - and yet, the state doesn't seem to care ONE BIT that an innocent man might be executed. They're so hell-bent on their agenda - they're blinded to the truth - just like the victim's families. Les Bower AND his family are not the enemy.

We pray that Judge Fallon's decision will not be a repeat of what happened 8 years ago ...

so here's a question. If he truly is innocent, why is all of this coming up now? From what I've read, these motions by the defense were only submitted this summer.

I don't know that I have an opinion either way, I'm just wondering why it's taken this long and from what I've read, these are new motions, why wouldn't they present all of this last year, the year before, when the death penalty itself was under review, etc.

Because it sure seems coincidental that this is happening weeks before his scheduled execution.

I only pray that an innocent man is not put to death. He has spent 24 years on death row and has been a model prisoner. He knows that one way or the other he will be going to heaven because he is innocent.

I cannot believe prosecutors are so gung-ho and don't want to admit that they were wrong. They would rather let an innocent man die than admit they made a mistake. BIG PROBLEM WITH OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM!!! I hope to God I am never at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Les has been deprived of seeing his children grow up. He has been deprived of the closeness of the woman he loves and who loves him and has stood by his side all these years.

To the families of the victims, the death of an innocent man should not make you feel any better or give you any type of closure. You should still be looking for the real killer.

I have heard it said that it will take an act of God to get Les out of prison. God, please let your presence be known now.

Judge Jim Fallon Ruled In Favor of the DNA evidence being allowed. God's Presence is being seen for the first time in the case. The court of criminal appeals has decided to wait until after Judge Fallon made his ruling. They will be the ones to allow a new trial or to drop the case.

The reason that this just came about this summer is because the Bower Defense has tried to have an Evidentuary Trial for 19 years and the beurocosy of our system has put roadblocks up. Lester Bower has claimed the truth all along...he is innocent. Now, there is opportunity for the truth to be told and proven.

T-Nip has put alot of very accurate and informative information reguarding the case here on Topix. Read it and you will understand more of the legal steps this defense team has continuously taken to help free this innocent man!
