FDA Targets Cigarettes in Broadening of Fight Against Addiction

Eight years after it was given the power to meaningfully change smoking in America, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration moved to do so. Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act -- a law enacted under a Democratic Congress and then-President Obama -- to cut the level of nicotine in cigarettes to nonaddictive levels.  "A lot of people have been thinking about this for a long time, including experts in the agency, including myself," FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in an interview with Bloomberg on Friday.

Get a life! This is nothing more than a plan to (try to) make people smoke more, to get more tax dollars. It won't work. People will do other things like cut the filter.

And remember that people can ALWAYS get whatever they want from bootleggers. This means that the customer still gets exactly what he or she wants, but the state does not get jack diddly in tax revenue!

These so-called politicians had better keep that fact in mind when making stupid laws like this.
