Once again, the FDA is failing to protect the public while succumbing to the money of big industry.

FDA also approved dangerous drugs (like Vioxx and Bextra) only to pull them off the market after people have died or suffered strokes.

RE: article. Folks, you can bet your last dollar that the govt. knew about the spinach problem and the like for years.
Animal rights' orgs. have sent them letters and petitions with thousands of names on the petitions to correct the problem for years. I know;I was one of those people who signed the petitions. The contamination comes from farm waste run-offs into any nearby water flow,ie, E.coli., ie, subsequent deaths.
Farm waste run-offs are all over the country, not just where the spinach problem was.
Does the govt. listen to animal rights' orgs. about that or other similar things that adversely affect people? No! Why? Because there is that GREAT possibility that the orgs. are right!...and that would embarass them if it was exposed in the news that their basic source, the vigilant orgs. who co-erced them to correct the problem, was right!...and that they (the govt) ignored the warnings!

ADDRESSING THE FATAL DRUGS: Pharm. co'.s have a legal clause that allows them to experiment their up-coming drugs on animals...instead of using the newer advanced and more accurate non-animal tested methods that are available and only utilzed by few co's.
Experimenting on animals is cheaper and allows the drug co's. to get their latest drug out on the competitive market faster...for the almighy dollar!!!
That's why Merck has so many lawsuits, but doesn't care about the them because they are too wealthy and insured!

Now Merck is pushing their vaccine for young girls to prevent cervical cancer, etc. Only another way of recovering their lawsuit losses.
Lovely commercials they have with the animals on them, isn't that nice of them?????!!!

That is unacceptable FDA! One would think they got the hint from the USDA when they were caught taking a nap in 1997.

It does my heart good to read so many comments from people here who are wise to the govt. with their corruption and greed!!! The wealthy special interest groups are the ones who are really running the country with their good 'ol boy/sweetheart deals influence on the politicians with their campaign contributions$$$$$$$$..
Perhaps we should discuss our concerns with a major, powerful political contributor, the NRA, instead of the FDA.
