I just started using the mouthwash on the advice of a friend whose dentist recommended it. I keep feeling like I am losing my sense of taste and have the metallic taste others have described. I sure hope it goes away. I'm glad I looked it up. I'm pouring the rest down the drain.

I just tried the mouthwash for the first time a few days ago and I immediately started to get a canker sore on my tongue from it and the skin under my tongue is so severely sore, I'm in alot of pain. And my whole tongue was swollen after using the mouthwash. And all this was after using it just one time. Never again. I used to trust Crest products. Not anymore. And I pray this pain goes away soon.

Bought Crest Pro Health because of no alchohol..used twice a day for maybe 10 days or so..I have about 1/4 of the bottle left.I started to notice my taste buds were affected which I thought very early on might be a good thing since I wasn't hungry however I am now left with a horrible metallic taste that alters how food tastes in a very negative, frightening way.Thinking I must have some terrible disease I looked up info online and found others were having this issue as well..Fortunately I didn't have the tooth staining but here's my question....HOW LONG TIL THIS METALLIC TASTE GOES AWAY AND MY TASTE BUDS ARE BACK TO NORMAL????? I haven't used it at least 3 weeks now..I am so freaked..everything tastes horrible..I even complained to the service man who refills our bottled water at work thinking that was the problem although no one else at work seemed to have an issue with it..how could this product be on the market

Following up on my posts of Jan 10, 2010 and Mar 30, 2010. As I said, it took over 4 weeks for my symptoms go to away, and I used Crest Pro Health only ONCE. My symptoms started within hours after that. I never used Crest Pro Health rinse again and have not had any more problems. Therefore I am thoroughly convinced it was Crest Pro Health that caused the facial numbness that I experienced.

Oh how I wish I had seen this before I bought that Crest Pro Health Night formula three days ago! I am so upset! I have been using it just as directed, and my tongue feels numb, weird, and I cannot taste my foods! The roof of my moth also feels bizarre! I am so upset to see that so many other people have been experiencing the same symptoms, yet this crap is still on the shelves!!!
leslie, so sorry to hear that. my gf had a similar reaction. i know it was a long time ago, but have you regained your sense of taste? did you use any kinds of treatment?

i have been using the for about a week and bleeding gums and burned feeling on tongue just started last night, using plain ordinary alcohol mouthwash relieved the tongue burning right away, i'm going go back to regular toothpaste and mouthwash tonight and hoping for the best, i have a dentist appointment soon anyway.

Hi Alex, I'm sorry to hear that your g.f. is going through this too. The bright side of it all is that I did eventually regain my sense of taste and the pain and weird "coated" feeling did go away. It took a couple of weeks after I discontinued use of the C.P.H. mouthwash, and for me, it was a very gradual process.

I get so angry whenever I pass this stuff on the shelves in the stores! Whenever I see it on an endcap, I make sure I tell anyone who will listen NOT to ever purchase it! Maybe I look like a bit of a nut,(smile) but if I can stop anyone from having to go through what so many of us have experienced, then I will.

Crest, are you listening?

I bought the purple pro-health flouride rinse and started using in a few days ago. At first I enjoyed using it; my teeth felt clean and I liked how it didn't burn like Listerine. But I noticed the small clumps when I spit it out, and some skin on my tongue was actually peeling off! I tend to have a sensitive tongue anyway (if I eat a lot of acidic foods it hurts), but today I noticed the tip of my tongue was even more sensitive. Plus I feel like every time I eat something, my mouth just fills up with saliva! Has anyone else experienced this? I haven't noticed any stains yet, but I'm going to stop now before they can happen.

I began using Crest Pro Health mouthwash one week ago after it was recommended by my dental hygienist. After 3 days of use I started noticing englarged, painful taste buds developing on the front of my tongue. Thinking they were caused by bacteria in my mouth, I rinsed twice a day for the next 2 days to combat this condition. The entire front of my tongue inflamed, became swollen, and lost both sensation and taste. My lymph nodes in my neck/jaw also inflamed and became painful. I can barely eat, as I am afraid to bite on my own tongue as it has no sensation, as if I had novocaine at the dentist. Drinking is difficult, also, and I have to be careful not to choke on my liquids. I racked my brain as to what could be causing this and decided to stop the mouthwash. The pain and swelling are SLOWLY resolving, but my tongue remains numb and tasteless. I can't believe that a product that should help you can be this harmful!!

I started using Crest Pro-Health mouthwash around December 2010. Then, when I started getting bumps on the insides of my lips, intense dry mouth, the feeling of a coating inside my mouth, loss of taste and a numb spot on my tongue I stopped using it. It has been months since I stopped using it and my symptoms persist. I've been to my dentist and the doctor twice, had all sorts of tests done and they can't find any "pathology." I am furious with Proctor Gamble over this but what can I do? Reading all the other posts from folks who've had the same problems as me after using this product convinces me that it must be the mouthwash.

I too have had digestive problems, sores on lips and my taste for food has gotten so bad I rarely enjoy eating since starting Crest Pro-Health toopaste. I had narrowed it down to the toothpaste thinking I must be one in a million to be having this problem but after reading these posts, I am hopeful that these problems will go away. Surely there is a way to voice these concerns so no one else has to experience this. I have been using this toothpaste for over 8 months off and on and imagine there are many others out there who don't know what is making them suffer.

I know it's been a while since anyone has posted to this thread but just thought I'd contribute. I experienced the "slimy mouth" for about 2 weeks before even considering it was the Crest Pro Health I'd started using. Then I began experiencing patches of numbness on the left side of my neck, the outside of my left bicep and then my fingertips on my left hand. As crazy as it sounded, I began to suspect it was the Crest Pro Health so I went online to investigate and found threads like these. Well I threw my tube out tonight. Also interested in any civil action going on about the matter.

I am pleased to see how many complaints there are on this product. I can't taste a thing, but I am so thankful that my teeth did not get stained brown like everyone else is saying! And my tongue feels weird! When will my taste come back!!!?!?!!?!

I used the product for the last 3 days and my tongue is numb and I have diminished taste.

My husband used it once and he had a metallic aftertaste and numbness of the tongue, he also continues to have a numb thumb.

Crest needs to put a warning on the label. Will dump the rest down the drain.

It took about 2 weeks before my sense of taste was somewhat normal. Hope it is faster for you.
