WOW! I have been going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong with me and am so glad I finally thought to check this out! I just got this toothpaste and used it for a few days. Today ALL day I had a mettalic taste in my mouth and the wierdest feeling in my mouth, throat and stomach, like my whole digestive system was numb and dry! I cannot believe they sell this if so many people have reactions to it like this! It is terrible! I hope it goes away soon! Althoug, on the upside it has made eating so unpleasant that I will probably loose a few pounds while the effects wear off!

I used this stuff twice and wound up at a walk-in
with them telling me I had the measles !!! HA!! My "sour" glands-the ones that would let you know that you ate a persimon- were swollen !! I could NOT eat anything that was sour without sharp pain in both jaws !!! I called the company and they apologized !!! They asked the name of the hospital and picked up the bill !! I told them to take it off the market but I see they didn"t!!
Sorry !!!

I experienced dry mouth, and an achy jaw. My teeth are now extremely sensitive to the point of pain with every thing. The dentist could not complete my dental work because I don't get numb in the mouth anymore with the pain killers.

If there is a class action suit, I'd like to be a part of it.

I have had problems too!! For months my tongue has been so sore, like it has been burnt off. Food is starting to loose its taste. I've been to my physician twice. She started treating me for reflux. The medicine didn't help. I just went back this past week and she doesn't know what to think of my problem. I said to her as a joke, "Maybe it is my toothpaste." She laughed too. I decided to go online to see if anyone else has this problem and they do. I've stopped using Pro Health for two days now and my tongue is already feeling a bit better.

After one use of Crest Pro Health mouthwash, I have lost all taste sensation and it has been several days since I last used the product. I don't know what the deal is with Crest lately, but there should be warnings about these kinds of side effects. I'd like to know that expensive dinner out on the town would end up being a bland meal when I could just as well had myself some bread and rice and call it a day.

After just ONE day of using Crest Pro Health toothpaste, I had that white slimy stuff all over my mouth and a fuzzy feeling tongue. Unbelievable!! How could Crest get away with marketing such a product? I threw it out last night, but my tongue still doesn't feel right. I'm going back to AquaFresh which I've never had a problem with.

I had used Crest ProHealth mouthwash for several months without any problem .. twice a day. I had a mouth problem recently where I was unable to brush my teeth and used the mouthwash several times a day instead. I started having problems with my sense of taste. Sugar didn't seem to be as sweet. I stopped using the mouthwash and it seems that the problem is gradually going away.

A little over a month ago I decided to try the
Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste. At first I noticed a cottony feel to my gums and lips. I ignored it and soon it became more of a painful inflamation. I immediately switched to another
toothpaste, but it was too late. Since then, I've contracted a nasty respiratory flu, and after 2 courses of antibiotic it went away. My gums continued to be irritated the whole time. Then immediately after that, I started having headache and pain in my neck, nausea, fatigue. I've recently had bloodwork and x-rays and continue to have viral type symptoms. If anyone has any info on that class-action suit, please post it. This has been a nightmare!

I too have had similar effects of the Crest Prohealth toothpaste. The last tube was the "night" toothpaste. Having no idea what was causing these problems I have been using it for 6 months or more. I have the loss of almost all taste, an extremely sore thoat with coughing fits that keep me up all night, and digestive problems. I've seen 3 doctors, including an ENT (Ear, nose, throat) Again, not knowing it was the toothpaste. I quit after finaly reading these posts. I'm surprised I never saw any of them when I searched for "no taste". Considering how long I have used this toothpaste does anyone know how long till I will taste again, or if there is anything I can do to help the healing along? I am amazed that a company dedicated to oral hygiene would continue to market a product that has such ill effects on people.

I'm having a lot of the same reactions. Would really like to know how long it took for anyone's numbness to go away, if it did. It's been a week for me and I'm getting worried - the numbness is not going away, in fact it is spreading.

So went to the dentist - had a cleaning and thought to myself "I'm going to be vigilant now, brush, floss and rinse every night". I was told that Crest ProHealth Rinse was safer to use as it had no alcohol". Well - after about 1 1/2 weeks, my gums became more sensitive and the inside of my cheeks were becoming bumpy white and very irritated. I've stopped using it and now after 3 weeks, it still hurts to brush, cheeks and gums are white, bumpy, sore and my tongue now has white circles and is a bit swollen. After seeing my dentist today - I get to go to an oral surgeon for a biopsy. I'm a bit scared - but hoping its just a case of bad mouth wash! I'll keep you posted - but I think those P & G exec's need to have their mouths washed out with something!!!

Linda, I have also been experiencing similar symptoms, the numbness started on the tip of my tongue and has been spreading towards the back. I cannot taste anything sweet. I talked to my oral surgeon (it was on his orders I use a mouthwash for my wisdom teeth cavities, I just happen to pick up Crest Pro Health), and my personal physician. Neither one have heard of this and said to just give it time. I used it about a dozen times over the course of a weekend (to to rinse my wisdom teeth cavities after eating), and it has been a few days since I stopped. I have read that for some the symptoms return after time, but am still worried. Any news or changes from your last post?

After my ordeal last summer, I can tell you it took me about a month and a half for the gum symptoms to subside. But that's because I went to the dentist and he recommended a toothpaste for dry mouth. It helped immediately. Unfortunately I can't remember the name since it was so long ago, but I bought it at CVS and I'm sure any pharmacist could find it for you. You have to use it 3 or 4 times a day, but believe me it was so soothing and the only thing that worked for me. If I remember the name I'll write back.
Good luck to you.

I luckily haven't bought any of the Crest ProHealth, BUT I did just buy some Aquafresh Extreme Clean with micro-active foaming action & whitening. Sounds safe, but I used it for the first time this morning and it made the roof of my mouth numb! I called the manufacturer to complain, and they are reimbursing me for it. I would not recommend this toothpaste to anyone. Also, I looked up one of the ingredients (isoprotane?), and it's chemical make-up is considered "highly volatile". The manufacturer claims they use "very little" in their toothpaste (you can read about it on ) Just beware. Hope the rest of you feel better.

I wish I had known all this before I bought the Pro Health mouth wash. My tongue has a sore on it that appeared after I had just settled other sores in my mouth. I didn't think anything of it right away until the sore on the tongue appeared. Then my face broke out and I was like "allergy? Hmm - to what?" My husband and I thought it was red dye since I was drinking the new red pop from CRUSH (the strawberry) but I stopped drinking it and my face broke out again today after using Pro Health mouth wash. I'm going to stop using it but where is the justice for someone like me who has to suffer until the sore leaves my mouth? I'm not one that usually has allergy issues except when it comes to seasonal changes; so what is in this Pro Health that has my mouth sore and my throat sore (throat is sore because of the mouth)? Crest should be FORCED to STOP making their Pro Health mouth wash and go figure out what's causing this mess!

Is there anyone in PA that has a lawsuit out on them? If so, please send me the information. I really think this is something people need to take care of -- P & G needs to be forced to take their Crest Pro Health off the market until it's fully evaluated! There has to be something in it causing these types of reactions!

Following up on my Jan 10 post. It took about 4-1/2 weeks before all the numbness went away. The numbness started in my mouth within 2 hours after using Crest Pro-Health Rinse. During the next few days, the numbness spread up one side of my face. After about 2 weeks, the numbness began receding back toward the mouth area. In the third week the numbness started spreading over my top lip and after a couple of days it started spreading up the other side of my face, then receded again. The mouth area was numb the whole time, so I still believe that Crest Pro-Health Rinse triggered whatever physiological things happened. Unlike some of the others who have posted complaints, I had no sores or visible irritation of any kind, according to my dentist. My neurologist guessed that something was affecting the trigeminal nerve, which would cause the abnormal sensations in my mouth and face, and would explain why at first the numbness was only on one side. I had an MRI which showed nothing conclusive (and even with insurance, the MRI wasn't free), but I didn't have the MRI until the end of the third week into this.

Of course, I have not used Crest Pro-"Health" Rinse again, and the numbness has not returned. I do have allergies to a lot of different things, and sinus problems, which can also affect the trigeminal nerves. My personal opinion is that I must have had some type of allergic reaction to Crest Pro-"Health" Rinse, that caused inflammation in the tissues in and around my mouth, which then started pressing on the nerves in my face.

What an emotional and financial nightmare this has been. Tell everyone you know. Even my dentist is telling everyone. Crest Pro-"Health" Rinse is dangerous to some people, and they should say so on the label.

I've used 2 tubes of Crest Pro Health tooth paste and also the mouth wash. When I first used it, a layer of whitish skin sluffed off the inside of my mouth. In Feb I started having mouth and tongue sores. I've had them before but they go away in a week or two. I kept having the sores on my tongue and even one on my gums. I finally decided to go to the doctor. She gave an antibotic. I took that and stopped using Crest Pro Health procudts. The sores finally cleared up. After a couple of weeks I started using the Crest Pro Health again and guess what--the sores returned. My tongue feels thick and very sensitive, and my throat has been slightly sore. I have lost my sense of taste. It is now almost the first of May, I've stopped using Crest Pro, and my mouth has almost healed. My tounge still feels thick and my sense of taste is not right.
