The $64,000 question is still, "What about Silver Lake?"
I scene it

Tagliaferro explained that the organizations used several methods to clean the river, including the removal of 100,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the riverbed, replacing native plants and insect life along the water, as well as the fortification of the riverbanks from erosion by placing

"Removing the PCBs is a success story on its own," he said. "But incorporating these environmental restoration techniques is really important."

About the above quotes....

removal is not cleaning. I could plant roses on hill 78 {with fertilizer of course} and call the area natural again. and ducks still swim in Silver Lake, does that mean it's better now, even though nothings been cleaned in that area.

It's all a show folks. Don't believe the clean up is real. It's just a band-aid.

100,000 cyds= 10,000 10 yd. truckloads or 5000 tri-axle loads.

They dig it out of one corner, deliver it to another corner and dump it on the ground 40' in the air ,next to a school and homes {Hill 78}, cover it with plastic and call that clean. Clean in their own laws say sediments can only be destroyed chemically or by fire as was done at the Rose Site in Lanesborough, Ma. in which has had a pump running ,since 1980's to this day. They are still trying to clean this GE OWNED NOW site. 30 years and counting.

They left a lot in the ground, here in Pittsfield and just covered it,because the Aquifer is polluted and GE refused to haul it away to a reactor in Illinois, where they used to take some of it. We'll see how much power EPA has by the outcome of the rest of the river clean-up will it be leave it or export it away? The time is near.

Let the EPA, MADEP, Board of Health, GE CEO,and state and local officials who allowed these toxic dump sites to be created within city limits, move their families to the Allendale area and we wouldn't see Hill 78 again. Guaranteed.

It's called "greenwashing" folks.
The river needs to be cleaned up. Dredging and armoring are the cheap and dirty way out. How about some of that ecoimagination we keep hearing about?

I will call Deidre. Right now she is involved with the Lee beach problem, so the river is on the back burner. As for filming, at the end of the month on a Sunday?

more like $400,000,000.00

400,000 cyds of polluted silt 5' thick and it cost approx 1000.00 a cyd to clean it properly. No one wants that bill, so they've opted to sprinkle sand and topsoil {a slurry mix} on it for 2 million. That sounds better to them.

Forgot the uncleaned swamp behind plastics. So much in there it caught on fire once, never cleaned, outlet upstream into the "cleaned up" portion of the river.

GE, Bringing America's jobs to China.
