According to the materials at the following web link: http://octane.nmt.edu/sw-pttc/proceedings/H2S...
symptoms that the residents of Sylacauga are experiencing are due to exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide not the smell. The smell only confirms that it is present.
Symptoms of Exposure:
Burning Eyes
Sore Throat
Respiratory Irritation
Coughing
Headache
Dizziness
Nausea
Fatigue
Confusion
Loss of Sense
of Smell
I have not seen anything that confirms that there are sufficient studies regarding the effects from long term low levels of exposure. This should be addressed by EPA and other officials. To say there are none is irresponsible.
