Most of these long trains transporting coal to China will pass through the center of Spokane. It's a matter of real concern, although coal dust is only one of many costs foisted on the locals without compensation or jobs. Noise, exhaust, dust, the need to build $20 million overpasses to provide access to the city's's all on us. And that's before we get to the climate damage and mercury pollution that comes back our way after the coal is burned. Such a deal.
