I worked with a lady once who was a clean freak, always washing hands, spraying her desk with lysol, etc.- almost to a point of an OCD problem.
Her kids were the same way, but they were always sick and she ran them to the DR every time they had a runny nose and guess what they came home with ? YUP YUP - antibiotics. She thought i was nuts when i used the 5 sec rule unless something falls in crap/spit or anything really dirty or outside the home. My kids only go to Dr for yearly physical. Fevers are encouraged for body to fight infection in my household and knock on wood to this day, we don't have monthly common colds or flu. I honestly believe letting kids/our bodies learn to fight the infections or bacteria as we have the capability to do so. Regular soap and water to wash germs off is good enough for me. And thanks for the tips on the teeth whitening and how to make clothes smell fresh and nice. |

1 better idea... BAN TOM!!!!!!! |

I grew up in Pittsburgh during the 40's and 50's. Most of the rivers and creeks were badly polluted from strip mines and raw sewage was dumped into them. I used to play in these rivers and creeks, believe it or not. If the FDA saw some of the blue sludge I walked through they'd be sending men in white suits with hoods and built-in oxygen to pick me up and quaranteen me! Chartiers Creek, which ran through ny hometown of Carnegie, PA, was nothing more than an open sewer; and we played in it! Long story short, perhaps that may be why I'm pretty healthy for my age (66). Perhaps one day I might grow another head but so far, so good. My Mom didn't sanitize anything and she cut raw chicken on the kitchen sink. We also drank water in the summer from rubber hoses and no one died! Yes, we are much too sanitary these days. Babies need to be exposed to germs so that their immune systems will learn to fight them. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack from saying this but this is what I've always believed to be true.

Yes. I agree with you. People have gotten a little bit over the edge with GERM PHOBIA. A good hand washing with soap and water along with some exposure builds up our immune system to general, simple germs, colds, etc. |

2 Have mommy and/or daddy teach the child how to WASH THEIR HANDS after they go pee-pee and poopy dupe. And before the eat anything. Hey, this is such a great idea that NIH might adopt it! |

Not only are people becoming obsessed with anything labeled "antibacterial", they are taking antibiotics way too much. So now thanks to all the antibacterial products, we won't be exposed to any germs and viruses therefore we wont build immunities, and we will become immune to antibiotics and they will become useless when we really need them.

I have always used vinegar and baking soda for cleaning everything in my house, it makes a great paste as a spot remover on clothes as well as sinks and bathtubs. The best thing about is the price, vinegar is like a dollar and baking soda is about the same. When I finish cleaning I cut up a few lemons and put them in water. Squeeze it for a fresh drain in the kitchen after soing dishes. to me nothing smells fresher than lemons!! My motto is when life deals you lemons just clean your house, it's not really I just thought I'd sau that.

The problem that I've noticed it that it's difficult to buy soap now that isn't anti-bacterial.

That's what I've always thought. |
You are absolutely correct. The human race evolved with microbes. We are not all that sanitary from a sterility stand-point. Many microoganisms performs a necessary function for us. Has anyone who is objecting here ever eaten yoghurt or bread? I never went near anti-bacterial products and indeed I promote their ban. Just my opinion. |

The kids with the least allergies were the ones that had cows at home that the kids were exposed to next best were homes with cats and dogs.

1 How many candy bars fell on the grass and we shouted "5 second rule!" How many times have you til this day, been working in the yard, or on your car, and grabbed your sandwich between two fingers and chomped it down? And we survive! The kids of today live in a bubble and they are going to be prey for every germ that comes along----Who will survive? Children that play OUTSIDE, and are occasionally exposed to the germs that we all live with every day....We are raising a bunch of......... |
|
if you have children get them a dog or cat to introduce "harmless"essential local dirts and bacterias to build up a healthy immune system for a healthy life without a risk from superbugs found now in so many Uk hospitals

I don't think the germs I grew up with are the same as the ones we have now. I need protection, and I won't take antibiotics. Children have the best antibodies. Lick a child..... Wait don't do that! LOL

I wouldn't believe anything much that came from the FDA or the EPA. They minipulate the public like puppet's through the media so we will run out and buy more stuff so they can get kick backs. Or so the stocks they bought into will soar.
